Great intro to the events leading up to the American Revolution,
By Bobby Sandoval (Austin, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sons of Liberty (Turning Points) (Paperback)
As a school teacher who grew up hating social studies and history, I found this to be a very compelling (though certainly not all-encompassing) account of the events leading up to the American Revolution. It is not just another dry, boring text that asks students to remember dates. It gives some factual information, and briefly presents different sides of the conflict surrounding the American Revolution. Such a book can interest students in the historical event. This book can also provide some background knowledge on which to build future learning. In addition, since the main character is also school-aged, it can create an emotional link, which can create further interest in historical events. I see the potential in a book such as this to help motivate students into learning about historical events.

This is an interesting graphic history of the American Revolution for kids. It will make it easier for kids, probably middle school kids on up to understand the history. I was a bit disappointed because the book wasn't as good the the Little Rock Graphic novel.
