Malick and Justin rock!,

"Sons" is rockin'!! I tend to put on the blinders, and I've been really into hard-core blues for a while, but this crosses into R&B and roots-rock, and I love it! "Dark Side" is one of my early favorites... Malick's playing on this song is far different than what I was expecting. I think I had "Malick played with Otis, Muddy, etc..., in my head, so I wasn't expecting the more melodic stuff. It's really great! Also, about Justin's singing... WOW!! Now, I have his CD that he recorded with Kid Bangham, and I saw them together at the Winter Island Blues festival. Now I love Bangham's Texas-style blues (I'm a BIG fan of Jimmy Vaughan's playing), but I have to say, Amyl's vocal style fits so much better with the the material on "Sons." You can really hear the gospel and R&B influences in his voice.

All I can say is killer!,

What a great CD! Kind of a cross between the Black Crowes and Tom Petty with blues undertones. I don't usually listen to this type of music but it was recommended to me and I really love it!!

Sizzling R&B/roots rock with amazing vocals!,

If you enjoy driving electric blues and fervent, gospel-inspired vocals, buy this cd! Get It While You Can is a soulful re-make of the classic R&B song recorded by Howard Tate in 1967 (and later by Janis) and Amyl Justin's sanctified tenor vocals are perfect on this as well as more uptempo fare like Shot Full Of Heartache, Lone Wolf and the coolest version ever of the traditional You Are My Sunshine, which includes a delightfully bluesy guitar solo by Peter Malick, whose exciting playing stands out in cut after cut. The rhythm section is rounded out by Tom Hambridge who plays drums on 4 tracks and also produced the cd, Floyd Murphy, Jr. (of Blues Brothers fame) and Brad Hallen or Dave Hull on bass and Tom West on piano and B-3 (Susan Tedeschi band). Strong originals that rock hard! Justin's Detroit soul and Malick's Chicago-bred blues guitar shine throughout. Don't miss this one.
