Book Description

January 1998
Strongman fans: you've got to have this book! From Jon Pall Sigmarsson and Bill Kazmaier to Magnus ver Magnusson and Magnus Samuelsson, Sons of Samson -- Volume 2 introduces you to the World's Strongest Man competitors from 1977 to 1996. Meet the strongmen -- from the biggest names to the guys you might not know on a first-name basis -- and enjoy firsthand comments from someone who was there from the earliest days on. And if strength history is your thing, you will also want this book for its section on earlier professional strongmen -- the guys who did vaudeville acts, old-time feats of strength, etc. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars For all strength sports fans, September 21, 2007
This review is from: Sons of Samson, Volume 2 (Paperback)
This book is written by strength sports historian David Webster. He has been involved in highland games and strongman now for many years and knows all of the athletes personally. This book is the second of a series that profiles the top strongmen primarily of the mid 80's to early 90's. The largest section of this book is dedicated to the sport's top star of that time period, Jon Pall Sigmarsson, a four time World's Strongest Man, who unfortunately, died prematurely at the age of only 33. I highly recommend this book if you are into strongman.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of favorite books ever!, June 25, 2008
This review is from: Sons of Samson, Volume 2 (Paperback)
anyone who is involved in any of the strength sports (or pretty much ANY athlete, for that matter) will absolutely LOVE this book. Little known (and for the most part amazing) feats by accomplished strength athletes. Things such as vertical jump by oly lifters (Paul Anderson, etc.), the fastest MILE ever run by someone with a bodyweight >300lbs., you name it. Will perhaps change your opinion on what exactly constitutes an 'All-around athlete'.
