Hard to tell the difference between CD's from various makers but the Sony CD's have always worked well for me.

Just as described, great for making copies, loved the color cases, packaged well. Received quickly, and would order again. Perfect! Thnx

I did not purchase the SONY discs from Amazon, so this review should in no way be attributed to anything related to Amazon's sales or shipping.

I found these discs on sale at a local big box retailer. I'd never purchased SONY brand CD-R(s) previously, but loved the multicolored discs and plastic jewel cases. I was slightly concerned when I could not find any information regarding recording speed anywhere on the package. I didn't want to pass on a bargain, so went ahead and purchased the box.

I have now written six discs which had errors. This is unlike Verbatim or Maxell, which I have used without a glitch on several machines. I still had a few clean Verbatim discs, because I was concerned that there was a problem with my DVD/CD writer. No. The problem appeared totally related to these SONY discs. I get "partial" writes on some. Others appear to have written without error and, when played, begin to skip around like a hyperactive child.

I have tried burning the discs I bought on both a desktop and laptop machine, running two different operating systems and in both tests: bad results. Maybe I got a bad batch? If so, Sony's quality control leaves a lot to be desired. I will never again buy these disks. They make nice coasters and I can reuse the plastic jewel cases for my Verbatim discs, which would otherwise be stuffed into a paper sleeve. There is something not quite "industry standard" about the labeling on the package. I want to know both speed and capacity. Just providing the data "80 minutes" is insufficient: caveat emptor.

As it is a 60-mile round trip for me to return the discs, I decided to "eat" the "bargain" rather than waste 1/4 tank of gas and a couple of hours. From now on, I don't go for the glamour..I simply pay for the less expensive spindle of disks that have always worked perfectly for me, burn after burn. I'm happy to hear others have had good experiences with these discs. I wish I could say the same.

I have used Sony, Maxell, TDK and Memorex. Memorex is my least favorite of the four as the sound quality is not as good as the others. Sony, however, is the best. I've read reviews on all CD-R Music recordable CDs and some have stated they have problems including skipping and poor sound reproduction. While Sony is light years ahead of Maxell and Memorex (especially Memorex), I don't understand the problems some reviewers have had. I have had no problems and have used all (mostly Sony) for nearly two years with excellent results. Perhaps some simply do not take care of their CDs (mishandling, scratching them, not putting them back in the case after play, using inferior equipment to record/burn, etc.) I have burned over 100 CDs using the Sony CD-Rs and, in some cases, the Sony CD sounds better than the original CD or LP. I burn CDs using my laptop and also my Sony CD recorder. I've burned songs from my iTunes library (excellent sound quality!!) and from old records (both 45s and LPs) and have been very pleased. Making my own compilation CDs from my personal CD collection has also been rewarding with these Sony CD-Rs. So, forget the bad reviews. Sony has always been top quality in everything electronic and, likewise, their music CD-Rs are the best. If you are looking for a rewriteable CD (CD-RW), I also recommend the TDK. I've discovered the CD-RW comes in handy if you are wanting to convert your vinyl collection as there may be times when you'll need to erase recorded tracks due to operator error. Keep in mind, though, that CD-Rs seem to have better sound quality than CD-RWs. Also, remember that you must use "music" CDs for best quality. My only complaint is now Sony is no longer including the CD inserts with their 20-packs. I prefer to use these slimline inserts to handwrite my tracks as opposed to using the printable inserts. None of the others provide CD inserts either. I also like the slimline cases as they take up less space.

I've tried other brands, but I keep coming back to these. With other brands, I might have several bad disks in a box. With these, I've never had a bad one and I've been using them for years. Plus I love the colorful jewel boxes.

Sound is always perfect. My husband used to buy me something else if the store was out of these... now he knows better. :) These are worth waiting for when they're out of stock.

Great CDs! and I didn't even know they were jewel-toned! what a nice surprise! Seller packs great and ships in a FLASH! Everything is wonderful on this end. (Wonderful product, BTW!) Thank you so much. [Did a lot of research to make sure I was getting really good-quality CDs...so important when you're saving all your pricey music. Can't beat Sony, and these are first-rate CDs.]
