Sony 25DMR47RS4 16x DVD-R Recordable (25 Disc Spindle)

These are the only dvd-r's I've been able to get working on my powerbook (1.33Ghz aluminum).

I would love to find some cheaper ones, but these do a pretty reliable job. I'd rate them higher if they weren't so expensive.

I've been using these for several months to record movies. I've never come across a bad disc and I've never had issues playing them. I've played them in several different DVD players and DVD-RW drives. Out of the discs I've tried these are the ones I'm currently standing by.

I bought a replacement combo DVD/CD burner for my laptop, but found out it could not use my existing brand of media. I researched what brand would work and found the best deal on Amazon, fulfilled by Tiger Direct. The shipping and handling was acceptable and they arrived in good time. I understand other people have experienced problems with which brands of media work with which DVD burners and can safely say that Sony was the most compatible.

This is the second time I have bought this exact same product. It works great with no problem and is easy to use in my computer to record movies, music, and slide shows. I like the nice spindle storage case. I have several Sony products and stand by them.

I have recorded on all 25 of the 25-pack that I bought. They have played back
fine, without any defects in video or audio. I have since bought more.

I have used a full 25-disk package of these to copy my old 8mm camcorder tapes to DVD. Although I occasionally had an "unsupported media" error when I inserted a disk into my recorder, if I opened and reclosed the disk drawer, the problem resolved itself. I am on my last disk of the package and will buy this exact product again.

I tried using these disks on my Samsung R-120 disc player/recorder. They play OK for the first 2/3 of the disk and then fail for the last hour or so of the recording. Very annoying! I thought at first it was the fault of my recorder, but the failure happens consistently at the same area of the disk time after time. I believe all 25 disks are defective. My next purchase of disks will be a brand that is specifically recommended by Samsung.
