5.0 out of 5 stars I had no problems so far
I too have a Sony RDR-VX500 VCR/DVD Recorder and the formating only took 5-7 min. Another reviewer said that the formatting took over 40 min. This is not normal. Either a disc is defective or the recorder has malfunctioned. I had no problems so far.

This review is from: Sony 25DPW47RS2 DVD+RW Re-Recordable DVD (25-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
I too have a Sony RDR-VX500 VCR/DVD Recorder and the formating only took 5-7 min. Another reviewer said that the formatting took over 40 min. This is not normal. Either a disc is defective or the recorder has malfunctioned. I had no problems so far.

There's one thing that customers need to be aware of: That is the difference between DVD-RW and DVD+RW discs. I didn't think there was a difference, so I purchased a package of DVD-RW discs at Wal-mart. I learned the hard way that there is a difference. The DVD recorder will not create a menu on the DVD-RW discs. You can still create titles-but if you are playing the disc on a regular DVD player(I also have a Sony 5 disc DVD player)then playing the DVD-RW Disc is nearly impossiable. So when buying RW discs or R discs-Make sure you see the+sign. Either the DVD+R or the DVD+RW. It's the differnce between a menu or no menu. Just be careful.

I'm no expert in the field-I'm a buyer with experience.

This review is from: Sony 25DPW47RS2 DVD+RW Re-Recordable DVD (25-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
These are the best recordable DVDs I have found. I have used several other brands, and none have been as consistent, and trouble-free as these. For some reason, the stores I normally buy them from have stopped carrying them. Thank goodness that Amazon still has them!!! I really don't want to use any other kind. Am a firm beliver in the product!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best disks available, October 23, 2006
This review is from: Sony 25DPW47RS2 DVD+RW Re-Recordable DVD (25-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
I'm converting my very large tape library to disk and while filling the first fifty or so I've never had a problem with this product and I'm buying another stack. If the other guy who wrote a review had formatting problems he should take his defective machine back to the store and not blame the manufacturer of these excellent disks.

1.0 out of 5 stars DEFECTIVE DISCS WITHOUT SATISFACTION, March 9, 2010

This review is from: Sony 25DPW47RS2 DVD+RW Re-Recordable DVD (25-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
On September 19th of last year purchased this product and over the course of 6 months found several of these disc to be defective:did not want to contact Sony each time this happened, but rather when the group was finished. Called today and was put on a "classical merry-go-round" for one hour, with each department passing the buck to another.Started with a phone number listed as customer support; they said, you must speak to media and gave me another number; media could not help me and gave me still another number; this gal that I spoke to identified herself as working for Sony Styles and said we are a different company and could not help me either nor had any idea who could.Looked in papers for a non 800 number, called and got the same gal that I had just spoken to.THE ISSUE IS NOT THE MONEY INVOLVED, OBVIOUSLY, BUT RATHER THE TOTAL LACK OF INTEREST IN SATISFYING A CUSTOMER WITH A LEGITIMITE COMPLAINT.
There customer service has always been top draw with electronics; however, I will never buy another media product from them.BUYERS BEWARE

5.0 out of 5 stars great product, price, and service, June 20, 2009

This review is from: Sony 25DPW47RS2 DVD+RW Re-Recordable DVD (25-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
The RWs give me good flexibility....I bought 75. You can use them in some dvds without finalizing and if you do finalize, you can unfinalize. I paid about 80 cents per RW and they have been flawless. Also you can copy to a regular Dvd+R if you decide to keep the recording and then can reuse the RW. Delivery was super fast.

Other brands quite often after having been burned by several of my recorders are not recognized as having any content by my players. This rarely happens with this product.

Great product BUT a few of the discs in the spindle were not manufactured correctly and could not be used. They had a ring around the outside and I was unable to write to the disc..... so I had to toss them.

I've never used a DVD+RW before, as a 1st time shopper for this type of product i'm very happy with the results.

I bought the Sony 25DPW47RS2 DVD+RW Re-Recordable DVD (25-Pack Spindle) to record my missed tv shows off my PC to watch on my RCA DVD Player on my TV & then erase to use again later.

So far i've used about 5 of them with no problems what so ever.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't work in my LG dvd player., October 9, 2011

This review is from: Sony 25DPW47RS2 DVD+RW Re-Recordable DVD (25-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
I bought these because I ran out of Memorex DVD+RW discs. I thought I'd try Sony this time. However, when I tried to create a DVD with my DVD player, it created an endless loop. The player asked me if I would like to initialize the disc. I said yes. It started initializing it, appeared to finish, but when I tried to do anything with the DVD, it asked me if I would like to initialize the disc again. I did not have this problem with my Memorex DVD's. I have an LG dvd player. So, I gave the Sony discs to a friend who can use them to store pictures from their computer, and I am going to order some Memorex's instead. I'm giving this item 3 stars instead of 1 because I think this product will work fine in most instances.
