4.3-Inch Widescreen High-Brightness Touchscreen with Anti-Glare
Controlling the NV-U74T with the anti-glare 4.3-inch widescreen touchscreen is a breeze. Access features and route programming via the easy-to-use graphic interface, or use Sony’s intuitive Gesture Command technology for fast flick-of-the-finger control of the most often used commands. For instance, rather than maneuvering though various menus, the command "take me home" is as simple as making an inverted "V" on the screen. Display brightness is also adjustable for optimal daytime and nighttime operation.

The Super Suction Cup mount offers a safe, secure and stable installation that is easily removed and transferred from vehicle to vehicle.
Real-Time Traffic
Never get stuck in traffic again! The NV-U74T features Real-Time Traffic capability (subscription required), and will alert you of traffic congestion, construction, and accidents. Congestion levels are indicated on the map in different colors to give you a visual indication of the problem, and will automatically offer alternative routes so you can avoid the mess.

Dual View-3D Junction Guide
Sony’s Dual View-3D Junction Guide keeps you on-course and takes the guesswork out of intersections, junctions, and exit ramps. As you approach a turn or junction, a split-screen appears on the display with street level mapping and lane indications on the left and your route overview map on the right. Arrows indicate individual lane direction, making it easy to determine your next move.
Bluetooth Hands-free Calling
The NV-U74T also features Bluetooth technology, and with the built-in microphone and speaker system, turns your PND into an easy-to-use hands-free speaker phone system. Simply pair your Bluetooth-enabled phone with the U74T to safely make and receive phone calls while on the go.
Photo Viewer
Already a pretty perfect portable navigation system, Sony takes things one step further and incorporated a photo viewer into the NV-U74T, allowing you to convert your navigation device into a portable digital picture frame. Simply load your photos onto a Memory Stick Duo via your personal computer or Sony CyberMedia camera, and insert the card into the Memory Stick slot of the NV-U74T for trip down digital memory lane.

Don't be misled by the brand name.,

This review is from: Sony NVU74T 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic and Text-to-Speech (Electronics)
This GPS is great for the looks, and the physical design is solid. But what's inside is more important than the physical design. I used a 2 year old Garmin before buying this one. I'd say 2 year old Garmin is much more better than the Sony. If the purpose of the GPS is to take you from point A to point B, it certainly does the job. But you cannot expect any kind of efficiency in terms route planning. You can get traffic updates, and every time there is a delay on your route, you hear "recalculating route" but not really. Since I am in LA, I can listen to 1070 & 790 AM, and do my own route planning based on the traffic conditions.
Conclusion: I am not a big Sony fan, but bought this just because of the brand name, and I regret. Get any Garmin and do yourself a favor.

Best Gps for the money,

This review is from: Sony NVU74T 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic and Text-to-Speech (Electronics)
Pros: price, great poi seaches, updates from sony
Cons: Documentation on use is bad. Have to read detailed user guide and play with the unit to get to the advance features. Menus and interface could be better Summary: I spent about two week looking for a good gps that would not break my bank and still have good features with technical support. I bought a Mio 200, Magellan 4250- refurbished, and Navigon 2000s.I returned them all. This Sony unit was the best purchase and had the latest maps and software available. Bluetooth is the excellent. You can pair as many phones as you want and then select one for use. I still have not figure out how to work the gesture command- I will call Sony-no big deal. Directions are great and it rerouting is fast (after I preformed a firmware update.) POI search is the best that I have seen and gives the latest phone number on the screen to call from the gps. If you like a gadget with a lot features this is for you. Non technical persons could be overtake by all the functions but should be able to use the basics to get from point A to B Not bad for $149.99. I would recommend this device to all.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sony NVU74T 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic and Text-to-Speech (Electronics)
After an unsatisfying experience with the Sony NVU73T model I decided to try this one. This model has newer maps, is faster at processing your desired route and of course has a beautiful display, nice graphics and features not found on Garmin or Tom Tom products for the price I paid (a little over a hundred dollars for a new unit sold from Amazon). The text to speech works / sounds better than the entry level units from Garmin. The super suction cup mount is definitely sticky and well designed (although I have mine mounted to a Glisson bean bag mount for convenience). If you can live with short battery life (around 2 hours), no Macintosh support and maps from 2008 you might be pleasantly surprised by this unit.
