While the minidisc is considered an out dated medium, this product is invaluable to the broadcast industry for use in archiving audio and for Walkman minidisc recorders to capture interviews.

I've used these and the Sony Premium Gold disks for nearly 5 years and I've played them both hundreds of times. Never a failure with either type.
I don't see any reason to pay the extra cost of the Gold version. These lower cost versions work just as well and work great. I actually like to ability to organize my music on this style/format as it's much easier to keep track of fewer titles by putting all the common styles on the same disk if I want.
