Not a good adapter for the Sony 7600GR Shortwave Radio,
By
This review is from: Sony AC-E60A Worldwide AC Power Adaptor with Folding Plug Blade (Electronics)
I bought the AC-E60A adapter to use with my Sony 7600GR shortwave radio. I knew that it would cause some interference with the signal, but purchased it anyways just in case I was in a pinch. Trust me, the adapter adds a lot of noise to the AM Bandwidth, drowning out all of the weaker stations. It even says "not recommended for use with radio" on the package. It works fine with FM reception, but AM/SW reception really suffers when you use the adapter.
The best approach to take with the 7600GR would be to use NiMH rechargable batteries. You will save money in the long run, and you will not have to deal with the interference caused by an AC Adapter. The adapter works, and will probably suit a portable CD player fine.

Poor choice for Sony ICF-SW7600GR,
This review is from: Sony AC-E60A Worldwide AC Power Adaptor with Folding Plug Blade (Electronics)
I purchased this adaptor thinking I could use it to power my 7600. I was wrong. It makes so much RF noise I wonder why Sony even makes it. Still looking for a clean adaptor.

Using this Power Supply with a radio.,

I read the other reviews before I purchased this power supply. The one review stated that for Short Wave radio use, the power supply created significant interference, but for FM use it was probably fine. Most of our use is for FM, so I purchased the power supply. Locally, our town is considered to be "radio free". Our experience is that for "the one" strong local radio station reception overpowered the interference.
For the rest of the stations there was significant interference. We've opted to not use the power supply when we are listening to the stations we want to listen to. And, just decided to send the Power Supply back. The package clearly states in the first note "Do not use this AC adaptor with a radio as it may cause some noises". Information on web did not sufficiently declare this weakness.

Not suitable for radio use: a solution,

This Sony AC power adapter has the advantages of being energy efficient and universal with regard to AC input voltage. It does this by means of a switching power supply which generates rf interference, making it unsuitable for use with radios intended to receive weak signals. It is possible to locate a supplier of an ac adapter that does not use switching technology by doing an internet search for "Sony ICF-SW7600GR ac adapter".

Amazon.com has everything! My cat chewed the original power cord and I found an identical replacement at Amazon.com for less compared to other outlets.
