Sony AC-LS5K AC Adapter w/ AA Connecting Cord for Various Cybershot Digital Cameras

I bought this AC adapter for a DSCW100 camera just prior to my vacation. I figured that after a full day of sightseeing, photos, and videos, the memory stick would be full and the battery might be low on charge. Since we'd be getting back to the hotel late each night, and since it takes about 3 hrs to recharge this battery, I wouldn't be able to recharge before I wanted to transfer the images to a computer. So I would need the adapter to insure that the battery didn't die in the middle of a transfer and possibly corrupt the memory stick and images.

What I found was the I could take hundreds of images and many minutes of videos (few flash photos, though) and still have plenty of battery life left for even another day of shooting. So I never really needed the AC adapter.

I did try it a couple of times. It worked fine with the attached cords for this camera. The extra AA battery connector cord isn't needed for the DSCW100. One minor issue is that the connector is nearly square with only a very small protrusion to define the alignment direction with the camera. Its hard to see and difficult to connect in less than excellent lighting (and with my 55 yr old eyes).

So my rating is only 3 stars because, if I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have made the purchase.

There is not really much to say about this product -- it works fine, the connections are secure and it has a very long cord. But to answer a previous reviewer: it would be more convenient if you didn't have to remove the batteries in order to use it but I think that capability is something you give up when you buy a small digital camera since space is at a very high premium.

Absolutely necessary piece of equipment for the camera; it should come with the camera in the original box! Whether you want to connect to the big screen tv to look at your pictures, or just transfer from camera to computer, you need this adapter; batteries cannot do the job.

The product works fine, like it is designed. However,if the camera were designed to allow a plug-in directly into the camera so the batteries would not have to be replaced by the adapter, it would be much more convenient and make a lot more sense.

Good for AC power, but DOES NOT charge the battery as written in a review by another customer. I lost my charger and was hoping to get an AC cord to charge the battery without removing it...this in not the product for that. This is probably only good for extended video viewing on the computer or LCD TV. If you're just transferring pictures and small video, then the battery power is enough...as long as you have a charger.

I bought this adapter, to use it with my new Sony DSC-H2. However, the H2 does not have a direct connecting for this adapter. (My previous Sony had).
Although it comes with a battery replacement gadget which is easy to use. I had hoped to be able to recharge the batteries without taken them out of the camera, this does not work.

Warning: The AC-LS5K adapter does NOT work with the Sony Cybershot DSC W55 camera if the DSC W55 uses a square Lithium Ion battery. Neither of the two plug-ins on the adaptor can be plugged into the camera anywhere! The adaptor is designed to plug into a battery chamber for two AA batteries, but the smaller chamber for the square Lithium Ion battery will not receive the adaptor. If your DSC W55 uses two AA batteries, this adaptor is fine.

I got this adapter for my new Sony DSC-W50 camera - it offers AC power while uploading images to your computer and (most important) charges the battery very conveniently without removing the battery and using the Sony battery charger. The price was much better than buying directly through Sony.

It fits in the camera, gives me 120AC capabilities and is perfect when downloading or massaging pictures on the computer. With it hooked up I don't use the batteries and do not have to rush the downloading.

This cable was just what I was looking for, for my Sony H5 digital camera. Real easy to use, and allows for endless time using my camera indoors without using up my charged batteries for outside shooting.
