4.0 out of 5 stars Best option for Walkman charger, if you can find one
I purchased this at a Sony outlet store about 2 months ago (because there was NOTHING available online) before a long trip where I wouldn't have access to charge my Walkman via USB. I first purchased the much bulkier cradle but soon realized it wouldn't be very convenient for travel and was a waste of $50.

This charger, on the other hand, is a compact & handy...

1.0 out of 5 stars Sony Walkman AC Adapter
I suggest you save $25-$30 by buying a MusicPower Duet or Solo universal USB charger from Amazon. The Duet is great, I can charge two NWZ-series Walkmans at once.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best option for Walkman charger, if you can find one, January 28, 2008
This review is from: Sony ACNWUM50 Walkman USB Charger with Walkman USB Cable (Electronics)

This charger, on the other hand, is a compact & handy 2"x2"x1" box that takes up almost no space & works very quickly to charge the Walkman. It is 100-240V and 50/60Hz, so it'll work worldwide if you have the appropriate plug adapter.

The box divides into 2 parts, with a standard U.S. 2-prong polarized plug on one side that rotates out a full 180 degrees (so you can plug it into an outlet either at a right angle or sticking out flat, allowing you to rest the player on top or conserve space on your power strip). When using a plug adapter in South America or Europe, I was able to rest the player conveniently on top of the plug adapter between the charger & the wall - no need to leave it dangling.

The other half holds a curled up 6" cord that plugs into the charger & player. It is not an actual USB cord, unfortunately, so although you can use it to charge the player via a USB port on a computer (if you bend the little plastic tab out of the way), it doesn't allow you to sync. If it did, I would give this thing 5 stars, but apparently Sony can't figure these things out...

Based on price, portability & function, this is a FAR superior option than the cradle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sony Adapter, May 30, 2008

It works just fine. Important to have if you want to charge the walkman without a computer. The only "short" fall is that the cable is very short, so when you plug it in the walman is either not supported or on the floor. Not significant. I also like the compactness of the charger, not taking up too much room in your suitcase, purse or briefcase.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sony AC adapter., November 29, 2008

Sony, why so exclusive? I'm just gonna help the other reviewer named Ricardo, and say that the MusicPower one does the same as this, and it's SOOOO MUCH cheaper... Plus, it also works for other kinds of mp3 players, which makes it 10000000 times better. So go ahead and get that one.
Period.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a device you can plug into a wall outlet and charge your Walkman!, April 9, 2008

Tired of charging your Sony Walkman with a computer or laptop? Want to plug it in a wall outlet instead? Well, now you can with the AC-NWUM50 AC Adapter from Sony.

This AC adapter works with the Sony Walkman NWZ-A800 series models. Just think, you don't have to charge the battery via computer again. Any room, any place: this is the adapter for you!

I bought it, and I hope it works for you too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Comes with a non-US plug, June 18, 2010

This AC adapter is falsely advertised as having a US plug built right into the adapter. Much to my dismay, when I received the adapter, it came with a detachable EUROPEAN (I think) cord, with a place to plug that cord in on the adapter. Thankfully, I had a US cord from another charger that fit into this adapter, and even more thankfully, the adapter is rated at 100-240V, 50-60Hz, so it worked just fine when I plugged it in. However, it makes a random, intermittent, hi-pitched buzzing sound when it's charging my Walkman, which makes me a bit uneasy.

This is an excellent alternative to the plug in the computer chargers...it charges quickly in any outlet. Used this when I was on Jury duty to charge my Sony walkman and it was great! Compact and fits into your purse. Worth the money, 100 percent!

This is a nice little charger that works great for my Sony MP3. I use it for travel when I don't have my PC with me to recharge the Walkman. Was shipped very quickly. I'm satisfied and would recommend it.

This little charger can simply get the job done. Insted of hooking my Sony walkman to my computer to charge it up, I now have a small travel charger. Its small enough to put in your pocket and plugs into any wall socket. If you own a Walkman and want to charge it on the go this is for you.
