This has to be one of our best gifts to us from Santa ever! It comes with 2 speakers - we bought an extra one and liked it so much, we just ordered an other one. You can change the song from any speaker, each speaker has volume control and on/off switch. When not in use, it displays the time. It looks sharp and the sound is unbelievable. 3.0 out of 5 stars Nice but tough to set up!
So now that I finally have mine up and playing I will say its a neat little unit. I won't rave about the sound quality as it does not meet my standards but yet it's good enough for the use that my wife and I bought it for. I will say it has decent sound quality for the price. I have not had the issues others have with it interfering with WIFI/phones but remember it has...

5.0 out of 5 stars Compatible with HDMI !!, April 20, 2010

One of the most recent reviews on this said this product would not work with your receiver hooked up with a hdmi cable, so I was reluctant to purchase. But figured there are alot of people who have no idea what they are talking about, so I ordered anyway. I AM GLAD I DID! Here is the scoop on this awesome little black box. First off it works no problem with the receiver hooked up thru HDMI cable only. I have the sony bdve300 blu-ray/surround package which has the option to buy the EZW-T100 s-air adapter (which I did purchase separately)that allows my bdve300 system to send the wireless signal to this little black box. I plugged this little black box in , turned the power button on , it immediately paired and the radio station I was listening to on my main unit played like magic! I then took the unit to the farthest place I would listen to it (outside my house) and it played perfect. At this time I tried to use the buttons on the box which flipped thru my preset radio stations without ever programming them they were all just there! You can fast forward, stop, play dvd/cd right from this unit also. Next ran the normal tests. 1)Volume : not bad, nice clean sound, no bass, plenty of volume for me (surprised). 2) Construction : feels solid not cheap 3) Functions : played cable tv, radio, dvd/cd audio perfect(what else matters). When watching 5.1 dvd it seems to play the front speakers sound not the rear surround sound just in case anyone is curious. I love this little black box so much that I just purchased another and am considering buying a third. This is a tremendous value and do not see how anyone would give this a bad review unless they received a defective unit. Sorry for the long reveiw but felt this item took some unfair remarks and I wanted to set the record straight. Buy this item, you can't go wrong!

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice but tough to set up!, November 24, 2009

So now that I finally have mine up and playing I will say its a neat little unit. I won't rave about the sound quality as it does not meet my standards but yet it's good enough for the use that my wife and I bought it for. I will say it has decent sound quality for the price. I have not had the issues others have with it interfering with WIFI/phones but remember it has various cahnnels you can use to keep it from interfering.I am disappointed that you are not able to listen to any componet that is digital through this unit as I bought it so when I play a concert DVD I can have the added sound in additional rooms. This is not possible unless you conect to the receiver through componet cables which defeats the purpose of having a nice set up.

Pros:
It's a nice little compact unit with decent sound that has a pretty good range. There is not a room I can't receive a good signal from (unlike others have stated).

Cons:
If you don't have a receiver that is set up for this unit, be sure to understand that you are going to pay extra money for the EZW T100 transmitter. This extra cost came as a surprise.
When setting it up, calling Sony does not seem to work, I highly recomend their "chat" room for technical assistance. 2 hours on the phone got me no where and 15 minutes in the chat room had me up and running.
They need to put how to "hard reset" in the manuals, this would have saved me a ton of grief.
The fact that you can't listen to ANYTHING that is connected through a optical, digital or HDMI cable is a MAJOR DOWNFALL.

Summary:
I like this unit but set up is an issue in many cases. Sony is nickel and diming folks for this unit and it sure isn't worth it. I wish I had put the money into a protable unit that I could take anywhere. This unit will not work if it isn't linked to the main unit. Since it won't play the digital portion off my receiver, a protable unit makes more since. I can only listen to the tuner and my old CD player through this unit. I do love gadets and this is just that a gadet. There for I am fairly happy with it as it is a neat concept. There definately needs to be some refinements from Sony for the "next" generation.

This is a great idea and a solid product. The sound quality is quite good - almost as good as a Bose docking station, in fact. But this unit does have limitations in terms of how close it needs to be to the mother unit or another S-AIR speaker. You won't have any problems whatsoever if there isn't a wall between units, regardless of distance. But if there is a wall between speakers, you may have to play around with where you put the unit a little bit. Overall, it's a great product that has some practical limitations. Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great performer!, April 15, 2010

After purchasing the Sony BRAVIA DAV-HDX589W 5.1-Channel Theater System (Black), I wanted to expand the reach of my music throughout the house with no wires. This product fits the bill perfectly. It doesn't need an unobstructed path to receive the signals. In fact, I use it for the opposite side of my 3000 sq ft home, going through 4 walls and a solid floor with no problems connecting. I've used it for several months very often and I'm happy with the performance and quality of this unit. Would purchase again without a doubt.

If you are looking to hook up the rear speakers that came with your Sony system, e.g. Sony HTS-S370, then you need product Sony WAHT-SA20 - Wireless audio delivery system for rear speakers.

This product (AIRSA10 S-AIR) is a standalone wireless speaker that you can NOT hook your system speakers into.

Again you need the Sony WAHT-SA20, this product allows you to hook up the rear speakers that came with your system and have them be wireless to the receiver. You still need the Sony EZWT 100 transmitter for your receiver for this all to work.

I hope this helps clarify the two products. I have to make this swap and hope to help anyone else who may make the same mistake.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless, November 5, 2009

This review is from: Sony AIRSA10 S-AIR Speaker System - Black (Electronics)
I live in a railroad apartment in NYC -- one room after another, with the doorways lined up. My main unit with the S-Air transmitter (which I had to buy separately) is in the front room, and I wanted to put the receiver in the kitchen at the other end (about 60-80 feet away). The units will pair if I put the receiver in the front room, but if I unplug it and take it into the kitchen they will not. Presumably I could use it in the next room, but what for? I can already hear the music from the front room speakers in the next room. Although the unit technically works, it won't be one bit of use to anybody in my situation. By the way, I just got off the phone with a SONY specialist, and no, there is no transceiver I can put in an intermediate room or antenna I can add to the receiver to strengthen the signal. I'm out $42 for the transmitter, $89 for the receiver, and whatever percentage of the $425 cost of the home theatre system and main unit represents the useless S-Air upgrade capability. There was nothing in the online info (and there's nothing in the manual for the main unit or the instructions for the receiver) telling me what the maximum distance would be .... not surprisingly, since the maximum distance apparently ain't much. Watch out, suckers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with HDMI from my DN1000, plays Analog only, October 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sony AIRSA10 S-AIR Speaker System - Black (Electronics)
Excluding my speakers, my Sony S-AIR Stereo consists of the STR-DN1000 with the EZWT100 adapter, Two WAHT-SA10's for 7.1 surround sound, and now this AIRSA10. It's a fantastic addition as now I can place this AIRSA10 anywhere I want in or outside of my house and I get full audio even. I can even get audio from my AIRSA10 with the DN1000 off if I turn on the "Stand By" mode in my DN1000's SAIR menu.

I can set the SAIR channel to "Separate" in the DN1000's menu and I can pick whatever analog input I want to hear from my DN1000, I don't even have to have that input selected on my television. If I select "Party" within my DN1000's menu the TV's input will change when I press the "SAIR" button on my AIRSA10.

My only gripe is when toggling through the inputs that the AIRSA10 is getting from my DN1000 it does NOT list the HDMI inputs. My DN1000 has 4 HDMI inputs but the AIRSA10 picks up none of them. Luckly, like I said before, the AIRSA10 will pick up the analog inputs even if my receiver does not have that input selected for what I'm watching on TV. So what I did was get analog cables and connect them from my ATT Set top box to my DN1000's TV input. So now I can select HDMI 1 on my remote so I can watch television, and then on my AIRSA10 I select the TV (analog) Input and I get audio from my stereo and my AIRSA10.

It's pretty cool indeed. I like this unit a lot and I just now opened it up. I plan on using it outside during football season while I'm grilling and can't really run in dirty and smelling of BBQ to watch TV on the couch. I'm sure that will make my wife happy, not so sure when I'll tell her I bought it, lol.

A couple notes:
- The AIRSA10 is ONLY a wireless receiving unit, it does not have it's own analog input on it.
- You can select radio stations that are preset on your receiver. So it's sort of like a radio, just don't take it out of range of the main receiver.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pricey; adequate sound quality, April 3, 2010

Have owned the wireless AIRSA10 for about six weeks having purchased it through Amazon's Warehouse Deals at about 60% of its $120 list price. The speaker comes with a transceiver so getting it to work with my Sony BDV-E500 Home Theatre System was simple. Snap the transceiver into its slot, set the switch to the same frequency as the HTIB, plug it in and turn it on. The main system is on the same floor about 35-40 ft from the AIRSA10 with a wall in between. There's no problem with getting a signal. The sound is adequate in a quiet area such as an office/study, bedroom, or in my case, the kitchen. It is not particularly loud and there's very little bass due to the small speakers so it is no 'boom box'. I find it odd that the volume control goes from 1 - 30, but it needs to be set at 18 or above to hear anything. In the kitchen, the sound does cut out if the microwave is on, something stated in the owner's manual; other appliances don't seem to affect it. When the TV is on, I can listen to the news while fixing dinner. A nice convenience is that in 'party' mode, the buttons on the unit will start/restart a CD or DVD, flip through tracks and scan through pre-set radio channels on the main unit. It would be nice if the buttons were back-lighted--it's hard to see the small print without looking directly down on the top in a well lit room. Overall, I think the unit is a bit pricey. Its sound quality is par with bedroom clock radio systems. Two improvements would be rechargeable battery operation to take it outside on the patio and a handle to carry it. If you are looking for a Sony wireless speaker to add to your sound system for use in another part of the house, this works.

Easy to use if you read the directions and set it up accordingly.
Pros: my wife left it out in the rain for 3 days while we were out of town. Dumped the water out of it, let it dry out, works as well as it ever did.
Sound is crystal clear when you have a full signal.
Cons: You have to purchase a transmitter seperately. Volume is loud enough for indoors and outdoors on the deck but could be louder. Works well away from transmitter but more walls= less signal strength.

Worth the money.
