I am a committed Sony-ophile if there is such an animal. I love all their products. This product is doubtless a good item except it requires a) your existing A/V Receiver to be S-Air compatible (that means Sony only), b) have an S-Air slot in the back of your A/V Receiver for the S-Air transmitter - I have the slot because my Receiver is less than a year old (they didn't mention you'd need one of those, did they?) and c) the availability of the afore-mentioned S-Air tramsitter EZW-T100 (that Sony conveniently doesn't manufacture or distribute anymore).
So, let's recap. They don't manufacture or sell the transmitter unit anymore. You can't use the wireless speaker package without the said transmitter. Yet they are still selling wireless receiver and speaker packages. What for? Ornamental value. Sony has instead quietly moved on to their Homeshare offering which operates through a wireless LAN in your house. There is no "Oops" or "Sorry, Mr. Loyal Customer" or "Here's how you can migrate to Homeshare and not be stuck with all the redundant Sony hardware you have purchased". Nope. Just sorry for your luck.
Customer Support were very sympathetic and agree that this is an absolute crock. I have written to Sony to tell them how poor this is.
Conclusion: Unless you already have an S-Air EZW-T100 transmitter, don't bother buying the wireless receiver/speaker package as you won't be able to use it. Returned mine.

I bought this system as I like to listen to music (Pandora, iTunes) and talk radio (NPR, BBC) while I'm moving around the house. System was easy to set up. The speakers are just OK, as other reviewers have said, they lack oomph and sound a little tinny as there is little base. Couple of things to note... unless I have got this wrong, using this system disables the computer's speakers, it's one or the other. I can get them back be restarting my PC with the Sony USB disconnected. I can control iTunes i.e. moving back and forth between tracks and apparently in Advanced Mode you can select play lists. I can't figure out a way to control Pandora, advancing tracks or selecting my stations, but I can hear it.
Very easy to connect to my home stereo system, plugged the unit in, connected the RCA cables to the Aux input and out came the music. Again the sound quality may not be the best but then I am not sitting down listening to it.
I used to have a Logitech Wireless DJ Streampoint system. Very flaky, gave up on it. Sony have clearly figured out wireless transmission where Logitech could not.
If you want to have sound in the background while you are doing other things, maybe even some background music while you have friends over for dinner, then the included speakers will work for you. If you want higher quality sound from your PC to sit and listen to or rock out a party then the connection to the home stereo is a good additional feature.
All in all I am very happy with the system, better sound quality would give it a 5 star rating. I am going to buy the R50 speakers to see if that improves things.

The transmitter and receiver combo is a great wireless audio solution for any house or apartment that isn't already pre-wired for a whole house speaker system. Very easy and quick set up once you figure everything out (I skipped a step and was stuck for about 30 min). Audio quality is very good, obviously not perfect and not as clear or crisp as if it were hard-wired, but for me it is a great way to get my huge song library from my computer to my the rest of my house, where I have much better speakers.
The speakers that are bundled in with this however, leave a lot to be desired. They do what they are supposed to but there is zero oomph behind them. The speakers sound clear but get a bit distorted when pushed to max volume, which isn't that loud, and there is almost no bass. They are really easy to use and sound good at moderate volumes, so I feel that they are best used in a garage or a room where they can supply some background music. These speakers aren't going to be the things you sit down and listen to music with, not for me at least and I am not an audiophile.
My recommendation would actually be to buy the stand alone receiver and transmitter that is selling for less than half the price of this bundle right now. I plan to purchase one of those in addition to this bundle so I can have a second receiver to connect the other audio system in my home to my itunes library.
