A screw will work, it has a notch for the screw to hold the speakers

Essentially. Consider it a second high def port. Most people use it to connect the tv or cable to the blu ray player. This way all tv/cable shows are in 5.1

Wires are attached to the speakers. You do not need any wire unless you need the speakers to be further away from the receiver (or run through a wall), in that case you will have to get some wire and do some cutting and splicing.

As electrical resistance is a function of the wire diameter, always try to make the extension at least the same gauge and going a little larger will not hurt anything. The junction is also a point of additional resistance - either solder or some type of crimp connector (if you can do those well) better better than twist and wire nut. Good luck and be sure to keep the polarity of the wires aligned.

This system has no standard 3.5mm audio ports. It does have an analog L/R output, you could probably get an adapter for. Of course, having standardized technology is beyond Sony's understanding.
