compatibility of sound system with TV,
By
This review is from: Sony BRAVIA Theater System (DAVHDX279W) - Black (Electronics)
I have a Sony Bravia 40 inch high definition LCD. I wanted a sound system that was compatible and would integrate well with the TV. After reviewing several surround sound systems, I decided on the Sony Bravia Theater System, due to the specs but mainly because it was the same brand as the TV. After installation (which was easy and set up quick), I couldn't be more pleased. The sound is ample for the room in which it is located, there is good separation for 5.1 Dolby, the controls for the TV operate the routine use of the sound system and the shift from satellite TV to DVDs is fairly seamless. I would recommend the Bravia Theater System, especially for the same brand TV.

Pretty good overall - but with some frustrating limitations,

All in all, it's fine considering I got a really good deal on it, just fell below my expectations. Had I paid full price I would probably have returned it.
Beware if you think you're getting into a simple "setup and go"/"plug & play" system. In my experience, you'll be lucky if you can get all 5 speakers working at the same time without major setup the first 5-10 times you use it with a different scenario (cable/dvr, dvd) and extensive reading. I have an HDTV & DVR and have been on the phone with tech support 3x. Just when I thought I was good, I come home to watch a concert DVD and the wireless speakers aren't working - have to again go through the process of pairing the S-Air unit. I also get a pretty substantial echo if I'm watching cable and have the tv sound on, my solution so far has been to just turn the tv all the way down - guess I'll have to call support again at some point. Also, if you're buying it for the added iPod dock functionality beware that video does not work - only audio. So, if you have an iTouch or iPhone for example, you won't be able to see the display on your tv. This is a misconception by the folks in the local electronics superstore near you. Overall it's a fine system, just takes some getting used to...

System installed fairly easy. Remote control is a little busy. Would of liked to see more definition between TV and stereo controls. Once I get used to it I'm sure it will be fine.
