A competent system,

I pre-ordered this system because I was sold on the Theatre Sync as I own a Sony LCD TV and a Sony Blu Ray player. The system sounds great and was fairly easy to set up. I especially like the 3 HDMI inputs with the system. The theatre synch works great. When our Blu Ray player is turned on, the reciever automatically changes to the proper input. My only complaints are with the speaker wire lengths and the auto-calibration. The speaker wires are much to short to be used in anything but a small room. The wires also connect to the system with a color coded plug which means that if you need longer wires, you have to splice into the supplied wires. The auto-calibration doesn't work very well. I tried it several times, but you would probably be better off trying it once then just setting them manually if it didn't come out like you wanted. Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase. It does match my Sony Blu Ray player. The reciever is actually smaller than the DVD player which was a nice suprise.

Pay attention to speaker wire length,

I like the system particularly the Bravia Theatre Sync. Two negatives (hence only 3 stars). The speaker wires are too short. The surround speaker wires are 8m and the front speakers and subwoofer wires are 3m. I have mine installed in a fairly small room (app. 12ft x 12ft) and the right front and surround wires are too short to be routed along the walls. The speaker wires have a color coded connector which is nice but this also meant I had to splice the speaker wire with an extension (I didn't bother to research if these were standard connectors).
The other issue was the speaker stand connection. The stand design is good but I stripped the heads off two of the supplied screws which secure the speaker to the stand. The first head broke off as soon as started to turn it and the second screw broke off after I had it 80% in so I had to drill it out. That said, with those installation problems solved, I do like the system.

the system is great, dont get me wrong, and it sounds amazing once its tuned...manually.
the auto calibration mic thing doesnt do much and as other reviewers have said, its better if you use it once and then tune it on your own from there. i had to increase the bass from the sub woofer and the center speaker and there was a big improvement in sound quality right there. the speaker wires are too short and you will have to get extra speaker wire and splice into the connector that connects into the receiver because its a color coded plug. the colors dont really matter as long as you know you hooked up the wires right. what i do like is that you have the option of hanging these things up on the walls if you want, but you have to get extra screws for that. also, one thing i dont like is that this system doesnt have a headphone jack as an input. that way, i wouldnt have to buy another sony item that can connect to ipods and other audio devices. to get around this, you can get a wire with a headphone jack on one end and a/v jacks on the other and just connect it to the super-cd line in. all in all, its a very good system and it will take you some time to hook everything up and read through the manual to figure everything out but once you have it somewhat tuned okay, then it will definitely sound amazing! it was either this or a yamaha system that came with a built in dvd player but i already had a dvd player and didnt see the need of another one. In addition, this system looked sooo much better than other systems on sale. I didnt go for a wireless unit because sound quality on those is still not as good as a wired connection. Got mine from costco and they have an unlimited return policy on this item just in case.
