I Am Very Pleased With This Set,

I have had this television set since May 9th and am very pleased with it. Even I was able to set it up. I don't have the expertise to evaluate the technicalities, but I recognize an outstanding picture when I see it. I thought I had a defective set for a three day period (faces were "sun-burned and most everything was pink), but the problem turned out to be a defective cable from my cable provider. The size of the set isn't overpowering in my small room. For watching baseball games and nature programs this set provides a picture that is superb. I can't imagine you doing any better than this set.

We are very pleased with this television. The picture is crisp, sharp and vibrant. It has great sound and was easy to set-up. Looks nice, too. With a cheap antenna, we pick up a handful of analog stations and 10 or so digital stations without cable or a satellite. A few of them are already HD and are amazing. You can get cheaper, but I doubt they are anywhere near this good.

Better than L-Series for some dollars more,

I own a 40" 1080p SONY Bravia TV and bought the 32" 720 HDMI for the master bedroom together with the Peerless Universal Tilt Wall Mount for 13 - 37". The 720p resolution is very good for this TV size but I do not recomend it as a PC monitor unless it is used for games or movies.
This model has a a little better contrast than the L series and PIP capability, when PC is used as main source; also the Piano finish worths the money for some dollars more in Amazon. The Tv does not come with SVGA cable as the 40" did.

Pros:
-Love the design, Piano black bezel and rounded corners. Always expected when buying SONY products. -Great Contrast, color, and brightness. -Fantastic digital processor, so I let the TV do all the work...I set my regular progressive scan DVD player to 480i and run it via a component cable to the TV. Dvd player is set to 16:4 Wide screen ratio, with a widesreen version DVD movie WOW it look AWSOME! I had to pick and choose which color preset looked the best, the cinema was great for me. -Great menus, easy to read and use. -Inset Speaker design not only looks elegant but sounds great! Cons: Not anything serious, juss things I think would have made it better. -Adding 1 more HDMI input, maybe on the side? -Swivel stand. *I'm very happy with this TV, I have been waiting to pick up a HD set for some time and I'm glad it was a SONY bravia. I have always loved SONY's designs and how they put things together....its always with class, something that is a must for electronics. Get this TV. I got a great deal at my local Fry's, they were offering a instant discount and it came out to be cheaper than all online prices.

I love this television. The picture is gorgeous and requires no adjustments. I'm using it with my DirecTV HD connection. 720P is just fine for this screen size - you really don't need 1080P and couldn't probably tell the difference on a 32" screen.

Was excited about it, then returned it.,

This review is from: Sony Bravia M-Series KDL-32M4000 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
Was shopping for an LCD for a bedroom and did not need 1080P. Besides this Sony I looked at 32" models from Samsung (450 series), Sharp (non-Aquos), LG, and Toshiba (32av502u). The 32M4000 was a little more money than the other models, but I trusted the Sony brand and decided to spend the extra money. I had looked at this model at B&M stores and with HD feeds (nature scenes) the picture looked good.
I was really excited about this TV, but when I hooked it up I found that faces seemed to have a sunburnt look to them. Also, when viewed from the sides the color was washed out and people looked somewhat like the living dead. Nature scenes looked good though. I spent a lot of time adjusting the picture and was able to get faces to look pretty good when viewed straight on, but never could eliminate the zombie effect when viewed at an angle. I returned the Sony with the intention of buying the Samsung, but I found a deal on the Toshiba that saved me some money so decided to take my chances. I found the picture to be a noticable improvement even just straight out of the box wit no tweaking. Skin tones look more natural and the colors do not get washed out when viewed at an angle. I'm very happy I returned the Sony. Pros: The Sony has a very nice looking menu system. I especially liked the ability to create custom names for your inputs rather than choosing names from a list. The physical design looks good. The remote is simple and uncluttered. Cons: More expensive. I found the quality of the HD picture to be disappointing especially when viewing faces from an angle. This makes me suspect they are buying LCDs from cheaper sources for their lower end model lines. The remote can't be used to control other devices. Maybe I got a bad unit, but before you buy this TV I recommend you view it in a store and make sure you view something with close ups of faces.

Arrived safely before promised delivery date. Setup was a breeze. Picture quality on digital channels outstanding, analog channels better than previous analog TV (12 year old Sony). I was concerned about picture quality (for example drop-outs on digital channels) because although we are on cable, this particular outlet had been split into three therefore giving weak signal. But the digital channels are incredible. Price I paid was much lower than best offers from Best Buy and Circuit City.

My Mom asked me to recommend a flat-screen so she can be ready for the change to digital next year. We chose the 32-inch Bravia based on our satisfaction with our 40-inch, purchased through Amazon.com last January. The picture on the Bravia is fantastic and Amazon's price, service and follow-up are unparalleled!

Terrible customer service,
This review is from: Sony Bravia M-Series KDL-32M4000 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
I purchased this TV in August. It was very easy to set up and I really liked it. Thanksgiving weekend the screen developed a horizontal line approximately 1/3 from the top and everything under the line was a double image. I called repair and was told it would have to be replaced. I was told I would have a refurbished TV shipped to me in 7-10 days. I still do not have the replacement TV almost a month later. Sony didn't call when they said they would and didn't seem to care about my problem. The reason for spending more money for the Sony was I thought I was getting a quality product from a good company. After this experience I don't think I will ever buy another Sony product

I have to admit Sony costs a little more, but they make an excellent product. I was able to buy this before Christmas for less then the L series locally, and delivery was four days earlier than expected.
We have a Vizio TV (OK) and replaced that with a 26" Bravia M series, which was much better. Our new 32" is even crisper and brighter. My only irritation...the glossy finish needs to be dusted everyday LOL. The 32" is a nice size for my 15 foot living rooom, visible but not dominating. I don't like the trend towards huge screens. My brother-in-law just put a 52" in a slightly larger room, and it is a real overpowering conversation killer. |
