The 37-inch KDL-37M4000 LCD flat panel HDTV brings with it BRAVIA Theatre Sync (HDMI-CEC) for easy, one-touch management of compatible Sony products, ACE contrast enhancement for better shadow detail, and BRAVIA Engine 2 for crystal clear picture quality. And with two HDMI inputs, an additional two component inputs and a PC input, you now have up to five different ways to make sure you see HD-level picture quality on the screen. Surrounding all this technology is the sleek, sophisticated design that has been a hallmark of the M-series lineup.
Part of the cinematic drama in film-making comes from details found in shadows and dark areas of the picture. Sony's Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) uses real-time image processing to dynamically adjust backlight levels for improved contrast without masking details the filmmaker intended you to see. ACE delivers deep blacks in darker scenes, as well as fine details in shadows and other dark areas of the picture for a difference you can truly see.
The latest version of Sony’s respected BRAVIA Engine fully digital video processor uses a collection of unique SONY algorithms to significantly reduce noise and produce sharp, vibrant, life-like images...
BRAVIA Theatre Sync is based on the industry standard HDMI-CEC function and allows your HDMI cable to do more than just transmit pure digital audio and video signals by allowing one-touch control of compatible A/V components.
Functions include: ONE-PUSH PLAY, ONE-PUSH THEATRE SETTINGS and ONE-PUSH SYSTEM POWER OFF

This one's a keeper,

This review is from: Sony Bravia M-Series KDL-37M4000 37-Inch 720p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
I purchased a Sony KDL 37M4000 after doing quite a bit of research on 720p LCD TVs. It was the largest size that would fit an existing cabinet, and I'm not a gamer, so I didn't need the 1080p XBR6 for quite a bit more money. I have it hooked up to a Comcast HD Cable Box and a Sony PS3 Gamestation for Blu-Ray discs.
The picture is excellent, particularly in the vivid mode for sports and concerts. It can also easily be calibrated using the remote menu settings to give you exactly what you may be looking for. The blu-ray discs are fabulous at 1080i, but frankly, the Standard Definition DVDs show almost as well at 480p. Also, contrary to what I've read about some LCD TV's, the viewing angle is extremely broad; there is not a significant loss of content from anywhere in the room where the TV is located. I am using component video inputs rather than HDMI inputs, and I have purchased a couple of HDMI connectors which I will eventually use just to see if there's any difference, but the display with component inputs is wonderful. If there is any drawback at all, it's that I can't use the TV remote or cable remote for the PS3 player, but that is a minor quibble indeed. I'd recommend this TV to anyone who wants one for around $1100.00 out the door.

Satisfied customer, confused by the naysayers,

I was pretty surprised to see the negative reviews on this product by more people than not. I haven't experienced any picture problems with this TV. I'm not a big tech guy so I don't pay too much attention to that many specs but I just don't see where the complaints are coming from. Never had a complaint about the colors or picture in general.
The one complain I have is that sometimes it takes a solid 3-5 seconds to change a channel, especially if you're switching to an HD channel. It's kind of annoying if you're switching between two games or two shows when one or the other is on a commercial, but it's not a deal breaker for me at least. If you're unhappy with this TV you're pretty hard to please in my mind. If that's the case just fork over the money for a Samsung. I thought this set was reasonably priced for a 37" and again other than it not being absolutely perfect I don't have any problem recommending it to someone.

Didn't expect this from Sony!!!,

I bought this TV relying on the name "Sony" and for the price, but it's an old saying, you get what you pay for, even for a Sony. Although no comparison to an XBR, this TV is worst than my Westinghouse in my bedroom. The Colors are weak and details are lacking. There is a fuzzy look to the picture despite playing around with the settings. I should've spent more money and gotten a higher end model rather than this one.
