With synchronized CD/cassette dubbing, CD playback commences just after cassette recording begins. The stereo record/playback cassette deck provides direct recording from either the tuner or the CD player. Other features include Mega Bass sound for low-frequency enhancement, 20-track CD programming, and a sleep/wake timer with variable settings so you fall asleep or wake to CD or radio. The CFD-E90PS also comes with a color-matched remote control, and a .125-inch headphone jack affords private listening.
Power the device through the extended power cord, or use 6 C batteries for true portability. The remote control requires 2 AAA batteries, and a clock- and memory-setting back-up features uses 3 AA batteries (no batteries included). When using batteries, expect about 7 hours of CD playback or 15 hours of cassette play or 20 hours of radio use. The boombox includes a telescopic FM antenna and built-in ferrite-bar antenna for AM radio reception.
What's in the Box
Boombox, remote control, AC power cord, a user's manual, and warranty information.

Little Boombox With Big Sound,
By
This review is from: Sony CFD-E90PS Psyc CD Radio Cassette Recorder Boombox (White) (Electronics)
I just love my Sony Psyc Boombox. It offers big sound from a very small package. It's ideal for sitting around the pool, with its handy multi-function remote. All of my neighbors have commented on the design. Some say it looks like a spaceship, I think it looks like a giant ant head. The full, rich sound is enhanced by the mega-bass function and is comparable with other high-end compact systems. With the unit plugged into the wall, this little system will fill a room with hi-fi sound. Running on batteries, however, is a different story. Six 'C' batteries are required if you have no access to an outlet. If you plan on playing CD's while running on batteries, expect to listen to only one disc. The CD's laser, presumably, uses an exponentially larger amount of juice than any other function, radio or cassette. Radio listening will get you the most time from the batteries. If you decide to go rechargeable, get the higher capacity batteries. Overall, I'm completely satisfied.

my 8 year old (now 9) loves this machine (as do we),

We checked out several brands and several Sony products before deciding on this one.It is a bit pricey for a kid but compared to what we have had in the past, and what we have looked at, this machine is the best value for its price. In this case, you do get what you pay for. This is a quality product that should last a long time.
We bought this(although in blue) an 8 year B-day for our son. He is now 9 1/2 and we could not be more pleased with this purchase. He loves it! It is a bit too complex for a child his age to program but was easy for an adult. Once programed, the ease of use of all its functions is easily used by him. This machine plugs into the wall as well as has a battery backup (although it is 6 C size batteries). It is usually plugged in when inside but the battery option has been so handy when we have had severe weather and lost power. Also, great to take with you as it's size and built in handle makes it easy for transport-be it on a camping trip or in the fort out back. The headphones jack is great as well. Kids can listen to their tunes without flooding the house! And more than one child can listen to their own music without turning up the sound to drown out each other. The only drawbacks I found for this machine are not big issues but thought should be mentioned: (1) that it does take up a bit of room on the night stand but then my son enjoys having it on the floor instead anyway! (2) The LCD screen flashes in 4 different colors. You can set it to be stationary on one color (which I prefer) but my son likes it blinking. It seems the blinking would be disrupting to a good, restful nights sleep so he has to reset the blinking/non-blinking every night(which is just one more thing to do at bedtime) Not a major thing, but something I'd rather not have. We are getting this machine for 2 other children in the house this year. That is how much we like it.

I love this machine and haven't had any problem with it (I purchased it about 6 months ago). The sound and the design are great too! I use it regularly and everything works perfect on it. The only thing I didn't like was that when I program the radio stations and afterwords it gets removed and pluged in somewhere else the stations are gone. I can start it all over again but I think this is normal. This is how it works with every radio.
