The CFD-S20CP comes with a digital AM/FM stereo tuner, too, boasting 30-station memory presets (20 FM, 10 AM) and one-button tuning. Four electronic sound modes (rock/pop/jazz/vocal) let you tailor the sound for listening to various different types of music or in different environments, while Mega Bass sound enhances low-frequencies in any sound mode.
With synchronized CD/cassette dubbing, CD playback commences just after cassette recording begins. The stereo record/playback cassette deck provides direct recording from either the tuner or the CD player. Other features include ported speakers, 20-track CD programming, shuffle play, and repeat play (one/all/program). The CFD-S20CP also includes a full-function remote control.

VERY DISAPPOINTING - Don't buy it,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sony CFD-S20CP CD/MP3/Cassette/Radio Boombox with 5-Character LCD Scrolling Display (Electronics)
I was very excited to see a boombox with MP3 capability and was delighted to see the SONY label. But now I'm only frustrated and very angry. So far, SONY has been unable to give me a clear explanation or solution to the problem I am experiencing. This unit is apparently VERY fussy about what sorts of MP3's it will play and won't play. It appears as though advanced ID3 tags will cause songs to skip the very beginning of songs. AT least that is my theory. What appears to be the case is that very primitive MP3's will play fine; more sophisticated MP3's will NOT. In my opinion, this unit is NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME. And certain not worth the price. On the positive side, SONY's technical people have been very patient with me (more patient than I have been), but have been unable to provide a solution, at least so far. As for ordinary CD's, not a bad boombox. But you can get cheaper boomboxes. So why pay more for a major feature (MP3) that doesn't function well at all?

Sony's MP3 capability falls flat,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sony CFD-S20CP CD/MP3/Cassette/Radio Boombox with 5-Character LCD Scrolling Display (Electronics)
This is a nice looking unit with good sound and what I especially liked was the sleep timer. I listen to old time radio MP3 CD's when I go to bed and thought this unit was too good to be true. It was! The MP3 capability sucks. Evidentally it will only play MP3 files burned at certain bit rates. Most of my MP3 CD's would not play with this unit but all play on a much cheaper unit. The sleep timer was the most important feature to me, but this unit is a loser because the MP3 capability falls flat!

Loved It Until It Broke,
By
This review is from: Sony CFD-S20CP CD/MP3/Cassette/Radio Boombox with 5-Character LCD Scrolling Display (Electronics)
This was a great player until it stopped working. After having it for about six months, CDs stopped playing in it. The same No Disc error others have seen had struck. I contacted Sony to get it repaired or replaced. They would not replace it but said they could repair it for $77 plus shipping. So if you buy it, maybe you'll get lucky and yours will work without a problem for longer than six months, but when it breaks don't expect any help from Sony.
