Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Sony's CPD-E240 is a 17-inch monitor (16 inches viewable) that combines performance and reliability with a reasonable price tag. With a maximum resolution of 1,280 x 1,024 dpi, a virtually flat screen, and a low 0.24mm dot pitch, the E240 provides clean, crisp images for a wide variety of home and office applications. Sony's HiDensity Electron Gun with Accurate Image Restoration technology ensures that the entire screen (even the corners) will be accurately focused, while an anti-reflective, high-contrast AR screen coating cuts down on glare and eyestrain. Eight factory presets combine with a number of easy-to-use onscreen controls, such as brightness, contrast, H/V position, pin balance, and zoom, to help users get the optimal image. Weighing around 41 pounds with a footprint of 15.8 inches x 16.6 inches, the G410R connects to Mac and PC systems via a 15-pin captive pigtail d-sub connector.

The E240 is plug-and-play ready, making setup a snap, while its power management system cuts back on energy consumption. Sony also provides a three-year parts and labor warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars What's best? LCD or CRT?, December 3, 2007
Let's face it (no pun intended) the LCD monitor is lighter, takes up
less space, is wall mountable, and in most cases uses less electricity.
Sounds like a slam dunk case so lets toss the old 35 pound CRT monitor into the dumpster right? Not so quick! I've had my Sony CPD-E240 17 inch CRT monitor side by side with a 17 inch Sony LCD monitor for the past 3
years and I can tell you that after about 2-3 hours, the LCD wears on me.
I don't know why but the Sony E240 cuases less strain on my eyes over the
long run. With as many as 3 computer monitors running simultaniously the Sony CPD-E240 is far less offesive to look at over extended periods of time.
Here's the kicker, I've already replaced the LCD monitor twice because
of failure. That's not a cheap fix either, LCD monitors are typically 25%-30% more expensive than your upper level CRT monitors.
My advice is this, if you have a Sony CPD-E240, keep it!
If you can find one and your not "picky" about desk space, buy one!!

Because soon....the CRT monitor will no longer be produced.
