This review is from: Sony Compact and Slim Travel Speaker for iPod and MP3 Players (Electronics)
I bought these speakers to (in hope) add more depth to my portable DVD player, that only has a tiny little speaker. I have had amp speakers, but wanted the convinience of not having to power them up.
The design of these speakers are great. the cord wraps around the case nicly, the base closes to protect the speakers. I soon found out that they are very quiet. My dvd players internal speaker is louder, the sony speakers are only slightly better in the sound quality department. I have a top of the line Sony headphones and they run louder then these, I can get my headphones up much louder than the internal speaker. Tried them with a few devices (sony HiFi, Computer, Gaming sevice) but still couldnt get them to produce any real volume. I wish I could coment on the sound qaulity more but its hard to tell with a wisper. I wasnt expecting much in terms of sound, but I was still disapointed. If you have no other options, these will do. but dont be expecting to entertain groups of people with these.

I saw this little speaker at target on clearance and thought how cute. I got it for my mom, but tried it out first. It has a good sound for its size. Considering it is not powered, it is quiet, but it is also perfect for anyone who wants to get the earbuds out of the earholes for a while. She has an mp3 player and loves it but cant always use it because she cant hear the phone with the earbuds in, so this is a perfect option. Inexpensive, no batteries required, and great for the room she is in to hear her tunes. As with all travel/foldable/hinged things, you have to treat them with care or they will break. Overall I give this a 4 out of 5 stars for quality and functionality.

Easy to use with yur Mp3 player (in my case a Sony) if you fold back with care it stand firm on yur desk and it play's well.
Afcourse you cannot compare this little item with the bigger speakers at home, than again here at the office or when I a have a bath it will play the tunes with ease and splendor. It is battery free and easy to pick up with you and it sound compared to its size very well. I am real happy with it and I can recommend it to any serious mp3 player owner. I'm very impressed with this little unit. How can something so simple-looking and so small work so well without its own power source? I listen to books-on-tape at night and this really fits the bill. No need for high volume and the sound quality is just fine at the volume I use. I waited a week to rate it because a different machine (iHome)broke after just a few nights. Very poor quality. So far, this one is a gooder.
The only thing I didn't like is that the packaging was a little confusing. It read, "No batteries/AC adapter required." Now that I know the "/" replaces the word "or", it's clear, but the salesMEN (plural) and I understood it to mean that batteries weren't needed but an AC adapter was. In the end, I returned the unnecessary adapter and really like this thing. It's a few months later and I thought I'd update... NO CHANGE! I still think this speaker is fantastic. I've traveled with it since my last post and had zero problems. It's really great. Highly recommended.

Pretty Good,
This review is from: Sony Compact and Slim Travel Speaker for iPod and MP3 Players (Electronics)
This is a good product. I really like the simple yet elegant design. The sound quality is surprisingly clear. Don't hope for too much bass out of these (as is expected for the small speakers). I do not recommend these as the primary source of sound for your music player in your living room. For that you definitely want to invest in something bigger. I think they're most ideal for times when you want music on the go, but don't want to use headphones. In my case, I use it while I'm working as a bus driver (can't wear headphones while driving). Some people have said that the volume isn't very high on these, but on my ipod it's more than enough.

Surprisingly Excellent,

I received this as a gift and was very surprised when I used it for the first time. I kept looking for where the batteries should go, then finally realized that this thing runs fully off of your audio device. It has excellent, crisp sound, and it's great for sharing your music with a group of friends.

These are not going to replace your home sound system, but they work great for carrying into the bathroom for soft music while taking a bath, or putting on a hotel night stand while traveling. It packs up easily, it's really small and it works really well. I was surprised at how loud it can be and still sound OK. It was a good purchase, for what it is and I'd recommend it.

Awesome little speakers,

Purchased these little speakers to use in my car, since the FM transmitter I had sucked. I was so happy with them that I ended up buying another set for my home and one for my office. Perfect for what I needed them for, listening to music w/o using the head set. Not Bose quality, but loud enough to hear the music, clear enough to enjoy the music and small enough to take with you.
Be careful opening them. The top comes out of it's socket easily, but you can pop it back together without too much fuss.

Since I work in a Dilbert cubicle - I was looking for a way to listen to my mp3 without earbuds - and not disturb my neighbors. This Sony speaker operates with no batteries required and plays at a low volume. Granted the sound is pretty tinny - but what do you expect for $20? Nice compact design - but don't expect Bose quality bass.

Finally, No need to put earbuds in ears and batteries in speakers,

I have many speakers for my MP3 players. They all require power cord or batteries (AA, AAA or C). When I received this speaker and tried it with my iPod Classic and other MP3 players, I felt so good to be able to listen to my MP3 without earbuds and be able to walk around with my speaker. Of course, my other speakers work too, but those speakers are not as portable as this little beauty. I don't like having headphones on and I hate loud music that hurts my ears and upsets my neighbors at night, so I usually have to stay in the same spot while using the speakers that are plugged into a wall outlet. This can be very painful.
Now I am having this speaker and my MP3 player hung around my neck. How? Well, I took the speaker cover off, passed a long string through the seam of the hinge, just like I passed the lanyard through my MP3 players. Then I put them around my neck. That's it. No need to worry about loud speakers at night. No need to put up with the discomfort of earphones. No need to switch MP3 players and speakers (I have speakers in every room), I am able to carry this low-volume speaker with me any time, anywhere. Granted, it does not have the best sound quality and loudest volume, but it is just wonderful that I don't have to use earbuds. They are not good for hearing and you may miss the doorbell or phone ring. And I don't have to be stuck in front of a speaker that is plugged into the wall when I listen to my MP3. You know that when the music from your big speakers can be heard in every corner of the house, it will annoy the neighbors, especially at night. But with this speaker in my hand, around my neck or in my pocket, I will not upset my neighbor day or night. Besides, this is the most economical choice for listening to your MP3 without headphones. No batteries needed, no wall outlet required. No need to carry batteries or AC adapter for it when using it away from home. Love it. Love it. Love it. |
