A week ago yesterday my new digi-cam ( Sony Cybershot DSC-S980 )arrived in the mail. I ordered it from Amazon via next day shipping because I needed it for my little sis' senior prom happening Friday. It arrived on time & in perfect condition.

When I decided to purchase this specific bundle there were no reviews on Amazon for it, but there were for just the camera itself. I read over them & decided to go with it because it seemed like a good little camera for the price. I'm not disappointed at all.

I just checked the reviews for the bundle & there were two that gave it only one star. Their complaints did not seem to make sense to me at all!

The reviews stated that this camera's shutter speed had a 6 second delay. I witnessed no such thing & just to make sure I had my hubby double check. We both came to the conclusion, after counting "one Mississippi, two Mississippi..." that the delay is only 1 - 2 seconds. Then just to triple check I took a pic of my kitchen timer set for 6secs, I hit both the timer & the shutter button at the same time & the pic was taken on the 5 second mark indicating that it is only about a one second delay.

The next complaint was that the pix turned out blurry. I failed to notice this thing called "blurry" that they speak of!

It was also stated in these reviews that the pix came out to dark. Again I fail to see it...

I am by NO MEANS skilled in taking pictures (just go to my myspace & check out the pix taken with my previous camera!) Yet I find it very simple to use this camera. The pictures turn out lovely. The settings are easy to figure out, the display screen is clear, bright & BIG. The text for the menu options is also a decent size so you don't have to strain to see what setting you want. All in all I personally think this camera ROCKS & am very pleased with my choice...plus it's PINK!!

I use this camera to take pictures for my blog. I carry it with me daily and have never had any problems. The camera is tiny and so user friendly. Lots of programs from point and shoot to manual modes. Lots of individual choice on control but make sure you understand the options and functions or be prepared to play. If you've had a Sony digital before you will be familiar with the controls and the learning curve will be brief. I have had no problem with extreme shutter delay or blurriness. I found low light auto shoot had the worst delay but still was minimal, but I am not photographing a toddler. I got crisp pics with lots of fine detail and nice saturated color. Packaging is also great. The pink camera and matching case have been a real hit. I've received numerous, "oh, that is so cute!" comments when I've used it at the garden center, park, bookstore, etc. I have many cameras. I'm sure some of them are technically better but this one is good quality and convenient.

After much debate, I finally decided to go ahead and purchase the DSC S980 Sony Cybershot. Since, at most retail stores (target/walmart) the camera itself was $150 not including memory card or case, I decided to buy it on here....of course I first tried it out in store. When it arrived I was a little skeptical since I had seen some bad reviews but this camera is the best!! It has so many settings to choose from...even though some people claim there are none...it's just not true!! Please, read the manual if your doubtful. The pictures are great and the 2gb memory card holds 400. Also, there is a digital zoom plus the basic 4x which is wonderful, though I had to read the manual to figure out how to turn it on. I've tried it indoors, outdoors, plants, animals, water...all turn out great!! For the price, you can't go wrong with this camera. Plus, the pics are so easliy transferred to your computer...which is my main reason for buying it and it's Vista compatible!! You can't zoom in when shooting a video but they still come out very clear and good quality. It feels very well built and the large screen is great! I would reccomend this camera to anyone who is in the market for one!!

I LOVE this camera!!!! I've gotten many comments that it is very nice (especially the pinkness of it) and many people are amazed at the 12.1 megapixles since most people only have 7-10 megapix. The pictures come out outstandingly clear and I love the built in red-eye fix. The battery lasts all day and the memory card holds a good amount over 400 pictures. Of course, you download your pictures and then can take even more. I just went to LongWood Gardens and there is A LOT to take pictures of! The shots of all the flowers I took are amazing! You can even see the waterdrops on them after it rains! The screen is very big and I got used to the settings in no time, very user-friendly. Just make sure you allow yourself a little time to figure everything out, find where all the features are so you can find them quickly later. The difficulty level for technology use is different for everyone. You will find different features (pic color, scene selection, etc.) in different settings (auto, easy, program, etc.) My only complaint is that when you go through the pictures you shot on your camera, scroll is not very quick. For me, this little set back will not keep me from using it all the times, and you should definitley buy it if you're looking for an easy-to-use, clear, cute camera. After all, the pictures aren't going to stay on your camera forever since they'll eventually be downloaded. Overall, AWESOME CAMERA! (Oh! and the case is adorable!)

This is an excellent buy.. the quality of the photos and video is extremely high. The price is excellent for a 12 megapixel. Once you start using the Sony brand you would love everything from Sony.

This is my second camera, and by far this is the best buy i have made, i really love this camera, and the rechargeable battery allows me to take @ least 300 pics w/flash per charge, anywhere!

I recently flew to machu picchu and in peru voltage is 220, this camera has a multi volt system, so i had no problems!

I found the good reviews to be more accurate and true. Maybe because they were more specific.

Now I want to give my review ...The good reviews about the shipping, camera, and its performance were all true. How its cheaper than anywhere else, can store about 400 pics with memory card, and reviews on features are true. I'm excited to use this more and happy with the purchase.


MY PROS:
1. price is VERY good... the previous reviews were right... i went to walmart, target, everywhere online... also deal was having the case and card. i like how it came together *affordable* and time efficient-you dont have to figure out which memory card to buy or buy a case which is another purchase

2. it was ready to use when it was shipped just pop in the battery and card. i like how you can track the shipping on amazon and it was delivered on time in good condition even box was in very good condition

3. the camera itself is excellent!...huge screen, simple easy to use, 12.1 megapixels, can take 400 pics, and is pretty looking

4. this isnt too thin too bulky just perfect size...i had a sony cybershot DSC 10 very very very thin version for years... dropped it once it split in half

5. the case does its job and not a cheap one they seem to just throw in its thick with 2 slots inside for storing extra memory cards... also memory card helps out...its all the accessories you need!

6. buying the camera online was fast -had to make an account and found time to order during work !

7. bought with free shipping ...yay!


MY CONS:
1. there is a shutter delay but I'm more interested in the results...others may not.

2. another delay scrolling thru previous pics some may find it annoying- blurry at first then you can see pic no big deal for me

3. it only comes in pink...i wanted blue! i'm a girl so its okay hah

4. not recommended for professionals...its just a basic point and shoot camera- no touch screen - no calendar- blah blah

5. screen so huge looks like it could scratch easily...just be more careful not too scratch it

I had (and lost) the Cybershot DSW120 and LOVED it. I have a toddler and the two most important qualities I was looking for are fast shutter speed and no blurry pics. I was trying to save a few bucks and bought this camera to replace my lost one, thinking it would be just as good...No! The shutter delay is 6 seconds, a lifetime when you have a moving toddler. The pictures were blurry, and the colors were very dark. I returned it and purchased the DSW120 again.

The camera is great, took amazing pictures with excellent resolution!

I love my little pink compact camera. The pics are excellent with terrific resolutions and the price + memory card + case was a steal!
