Great CD Player,
By
This review is from: Sony D-EJ100 Walkman Portable CD Player (Blue) (Electronics)
Those of you who are looking for a really good portable CD Player, I would recommend this one. The sound is VERY clear and crisp, and the volume has a nice range that can go pretty high. I like the little clip-on controller that comes with it. I was confused at how to hook up the controller at first and there are no intructions anywhere on it in the owner's manual (that I could find), but I finally figured it out after awhile. So for those of you who may be confused also, you connect the controller into the earphone jack and then connect the earphones to a jack that is on the back of the controller. This is a very nice CD Player and great for the money, too, I think. I don't think you'd be disappointed.

This is a great cd player at a very low price. First of all when you hear how crisp and finely tuned the sound is you will know why this SONY was worth it. Also it has a great bass (very deep)and the headphones are great (once you get used to them).Even though in the pic it may not seem like a very goodloking cd-player, when you get it youll see the difference. I wasnt a very big Sony fan but this has changd my mind. The list goes on and on but you wont find a better cd-player at this price or any price. Its worth every hard earned penny of yours and then some. No regrets

I remember a time when Sony built quality products...,

But this sure isn't one of them.
I agree completely with the reviewers who write that this player is a piece of junk. Before dismissing their reviews and mine as an aberration or as some kind of unwarranted, hostile attack on Sony, please read on. I bought my player about 4 months ago, and it stopped working suddenly just as others have described. The buttons on the lid (play, forward, back, pause) stopped responding (and, no, the unit is not in "hold" mode), and after the display showed "disc" upon initial insertion of a cd, the unit would then become completely unresponsive. On a few occasions, after my initial problem with the unit, it would work sporadically, but the unit would "die" again, after successfully playing one disc. Now it's just stone cold dead. Sure, the unit sounded just fine when it was working. Yes, it's attractively packaged and sleek. But it's still a very poorly made unit. And the "remedy" that Sony is going to offer me and other customers is the opportunity to purchase a refurbished unit (doesn't the very fact that they have an abundance of such units already speak volumes about their quality?) for an additional $29??! Who are they kidding? "Fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice..." I guess it should come as no surprise, really, that these units are garbage. It was made in China, probably by very, very low paid (child??) laborers, using very, very cheap components. Why are we all so surprised when these little plastic "toys" fail us? Maybe it's because not so long ago companies like Sony did make quality products that consumers could count on. Not so anymore, and it seems that way across the board. My last Sony walkman actually was damaging my cds by engraving a ring on the very outer edge of the cd. It rendered the disc unreadable on the last track(s). I still can't figure out how it was happening, but it ruined many of my discs. I'm sure I'll be discovering ruined discs for quite some time, since I have a cd collection that numbers well into the thousands. I read elsewhere that other people had similar problems with that very same model player (it's the sports walkman model...the one with the orange trim) damaging discs. My friend's Sony "ghetto blaster" of the same variety is now doing the same thing to his discs, so he only uses cd-r copies in it. But, in any case, what can we do? Sue for damages? Fat chance. No. What you can do is not buy this (or other) Sony electronics products. What I can do is to write a review that warns other consumers about these serious defects. Maybe eventually they'll get the message? Fwiw, I bought a Philips portable as a replacement. It seems like a solid unit, but it sucks battery life so quickly that I'm looking for yet another option. Panasonic seems to have a much better reputation currently, so perhaps that's another product to consider.

Good things come in small packages (4.5 Stars),
This review is from: Sony D-EJ100 Walkman Portable CD Player (Blue) (Electronics)
The Sony D-EJ100 Walkman is a nice, if flawed, little CD player. It comes with all the features one would expect for the relatively small price tag; G-Protection (anti-shock), bass boost, programmable functions, on-line remote, CD-R compatibility and more.
The unit itself is very thin and lightweight, but at the same time, quite durable. The button design is nice, with the basic play functions in the middle positioned around the display, and they're easily accessible too. However, the volume buttons, located on the side of the unit, are much too small. Speaking of volume, the headphones supplied with the unit don't carry much volume at all and they fail under high-bass situations, but they're okay for what their worth. Aside from a few volume issues, the Sony E-EJ100 Walkman is a great little unit with unbelieveable battery life (up to 50 hours!) Perfect for any music enthusiast.

My sixteen year daughter selected this player for Christmas after I purchased a different brand for her last year. She selected the player because she recognized the brand and said that she trusts their products. The bass feature and volume controls are great in comparison to other brands. It has a feature to "remember" the last track played, and is very sturdy . Not flimsy at all. I find this to be an excellent player for the price!!! Would highly recommend.

GREAT Sound with 2 choices on the bass booster "SOUND" button.
Good Volume, unlike many of the AVLS systems. User-Friendly, Great Skip Protection! I have the black with Neon Yellow/Green center, REALLY NICE LOOK! Good on Batteries, Plays CDRW very well! Headphones are not too great for anyone who is a glasses wearer or has multiple ear piercings (or smaller ears for that matter), but they do sound pretty good. I got a pair of Sennheiser (PX100's -in lower price range) German-made foldable headphones & now I can't get enough of this player! Great product for the price & I have done ALOT of Research looking for a Great Sound & a Sound Value!

Had this for 8 years, still going strong.,

When I was in 8th grade 8 years ago, my mom bought me one of these to take with me on a school trip to Washington DC. I still have it and still love it. It has been dropped, shoved into bags and tossed around, covered in silly stickers, and has no idea it isn't brand new. The sound is perfect and has played every random burned CD I have ever tossed into it (if you are into that sort of thing). I don't really have the money for a proper MP3 player but I don't really feel like I'm missing out on much, I don't like to listen to huge collections of random music, I am usually in moods for certain things. So I can just grab a CD to fit my mood and play it. For YEARS I have been using this to play music while I sleep and it works perfectly fine. I lost the plug in control thing a while ago but I never really used it anyway, it's not like it's hard to work out the controls. Plus, the Play button has a small bump on it so I can find it in the dark if I need to start my sleepy time CD again. This is actually an amazingly useful feature. I would highly recommend this CD player to anyone who for whatever reason requires a very rugged, long-living portable CD player. P.S: the blue is a pretty color too ;)

I used this earlier version of the sony "Psyc" walkman a LOT while it was still working. It lasted nearly a year with no problems. Then my dog jumped up at me unexpectedly and got her claws caught in the wires. The walkman smashed down onto the floor.
The buttons on the player itself stopped responding. Fortunately I could still use the so-called "Remote control". But then I snagged the wire on a doorknob and destroyed that as well. I think I would pay extra to have a wireless version of this product.

this cd player has lasted great. i've had it for 2+ years and its still in pretty good condition. i've dropped it from about 2 and a half feet almost once every week and it still sounds fine. of course time has tooken its toll and the sensor is getting a little weak so its stops every once in a while, but its a small price to pay for such a great cd player. unfortunately they don't have it in stock right now in amazon, so get it somewhere else. it should only cost like 30 dollars. its awesome cuz you start off where you stopped last time. BEST CD PLAYER EVER! for rock lovers, get "koss UR/10" head phones. HEAVY BASS!

I bought this a couple years ago and it cost less than half of what it costs now. But last summer my friend droped it on the floor and messed it up so it wouldnt play. I was also haveing other trobles like a part inside the cd came apart so id have to shake it sometimes to get it to work. i like the headphone becase they stay in your ears. its a good cd play in all. The sound was pretty good to. the battery was good it lasted for a while.
