5.0 out of 5 stars A pretty great player for the money
I would really give this 4.5 stars so I'll round it to a five. My cd player broke not that long ago so I was looking for a cheap replacement. I didn't want too many fancy features but I was looking for a name brand I could trust. Judging from the picture you can tell this is not the coolest looking player in the world but its okay. The buttons are a little small but...

1.0 out of 5 stars Sony is nice, but don't buy this one
After having a Sony Walkman for 6 years, I finally decided it was time for another. The Sony Walkman I had before has been through everything - it's been dropped, flipped over, shaken, travelled all over the country, and despite being completely abused and missing most of its external parts, it still plays beautifully. (It just looks ugly and the batteries fall out.) So,...

5.0 out of 5 stars A pretty great player for the money, September 3, 2003
I would really give this 4.5 stars so I'll round it to a five. My cd player broke not that long ago so I was looking for a cheap replacement. I didn't want too many fancy features but I was looking for a name brand I could trust. Judging from the picture you can tell this is not the coolest looking player in the world but its okay. The buttons are a little small but these are my only complaints. Here are the features that make this a good player: it won't skip hardly at all--it's very shock resistant. It has a pause button, the headphones it comes with are pretty comfortable and the sound is amazing. There are about eight or nine main levels of sound and at each level there are three sub levels which is great because you can always find the right setting. Also this player goes louder than my old one which is great if you are in a noisy crowded place. Also on the display it shows how much juice is in your batteries. A sony quality cd player for only [a price], It doesn't get much better than that! Hope this helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST CD PLAYER EVER!!!, April 11, 2003
By A Customer
I got this cd player about a month ago and all I have to say is that I never seen a better cd player for the price! The sound quality is unbelivable. There is a lot of bass and the sound is so clear! The features are awesome! It even has a new feature called bookmark mode. It also has shuffle, 1, repeat 1, and just regular playback, and some other cool features like resume, two step bass boost, digital volume, ALVS (which is kind of a waste) it is a mode that you can use if you want to let little kids hear it so they can't put it too loud so it will damage their hearing. I never use that though and I'm sure you won't either. It also comes with cool street style headphones and a psyc clip. The psyc clip is cool. You can attach it to your cd player and you can add a small keychain to it, and the headphones are great. I HIGHLY reccomend this cd player to anyone! It is the best cd player you can possibly get for the price! Also, the skip protection is unbelivable, It is impossible to make this cd player skip

4.0 out of 5 stars Just Bought It, June 17, 2003
Well, I just bought this cd walkman, and I have to say that when I took it out of the package, my first thoughts were, "I can't believe a thing this light cost me $. I'm going to take it back if the sound isn't really good." So I put in some batteries, and found out that for 50 dollars, the sound is excellent. It's incredibly light. I like the headphones, and they're of surprisingly good quality. So far as I can tell, this thing is very hard to get to skip. It seems like a very good deal, and I'm glad that I chose this one. I have no idea how it does in the long run, but in the last 30 minutes, it's run well (not that that means much). If you're looking for a light cd player with good sound quality that doesn't skip, this is the way to go. I gave it four stars because, first of all, it's great, but I also have no idea about its durability.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Cost Value, With Little or No Sacrifice in Quality, March 29, 2003

Compared to my 1995 "Discman" by Sony, it is extremely lightweight! That was a surprise. The behind the ear headphones that come in the package are kinda funky but fine (I'll probably use "earbuds" so they'll fit in the CaseLogic padded CD case I bought to go with this). I'm not crazy about the little "psych" theme going on here with the three strange buttons on the top and the foam-rubber tag that's included in the package (and for which I see no use--it'd be a strange decoration). But overall, 4 stars. CDs sound very nice when played on this unit. I like how the batteries fit compactly under where the CD plays. It does not play MP3's but I don't absolutely need that feature, so it was a good buy for my money.

5.0 out of 5 stars totally the best, November 16, 2003
i bought this player after my old PHILLIPS died (those things lasers really die quickly). its a great player, the batteries that i have in it are duracel (?) and i have had the same ones in for about 2 months now - they haven't even started dying yet. woo hoo!! it plays my burned CD's perfectly, the sound is incredible, it gets rid of some of the little fuzzies on my older CD's and makes them sound like new. i love the headphones, street-style are my absolute fav, i can sleep with them on, and i dont have to pull my long hair up to wear them. it doesn't skip at all, i can be ridding on the school bus, a train, the subway, i can be jogging - it doesnt skip AT ALL. the only thing you can really complain about it is the little buttons, but i honestly don't have a problem with them - i can stick this in a big pocket of my cargos and BAM im set for the day. all my peers love it (15, 16, 17), and so do my older friends. totaly great player

4.0 out of 5 stars An Almost Entirely Satisfying Product, October 7, 2003
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sony D-EJ360 PSYC CD Walkman (Yellow) (Electronics)
This is my first CD Walkman and I am very happy with it. I have been testing the unit every day for at least an hour over the last three months and I have had no problems thus far. To begin with, the sound quality is excellent at all volume levels although I do agree with other reviewers that the behind-the-neck 'street style' design of the headphones is not the most comfortable I have ever experienced. These headhones are not adjustable and when I wear them for extended periods, they do tend to become somewhat painful. (My own preference is for headphones that can be worn across the top of the head and that can be adjusted for a best fit to each individual's ear location and head size.) The playback and volume controls are adequately spaced and quite sensitive but there is a hold switch on the bottom surface of the CD player for those who have a concern about unintentional activation of the mechanism (I have not had this problem myself). And anti-skip protection of the Sony D-EJ360 PSYC CD Walkman is superb regardless of the kind of activity one is engaged in during use. Finally, the two AA batteries required to power this Walkman last an incredibly long time, always way beyond my expectations. I do have one minor quibble, however: Sony has not included a belt clip as part of their basic case design. In my opinion, if they had the functionality of this product would have been enhanced considerably.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Player, January 18, 2004

This review is from: Sony D-EJ360 PSYC CD Walkman (Yellow) (Electronics)
Sony has, yet again, topped my list of favorite electronic gadgets. I have had this CD player for a while now, and not once has it skipped on any song off of any CD, and I listen to a lot of music. It's the best portable player I have ever owned. It's also very durable. On several occasions I have forgotten I was using it, started to walk away from the table or whatever it was sitting on, and it has fallen. It must have been designed for idiots, such as myself, for it has never broken. The headphones included with this CD player are very comfortable, and, out of seven or so pairs of headphones owned by myself, the only ones I use. I give this product a five star rating, and I suggest you try it out. It might cost more than what you like, but you are definitely getting your money's worth.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sony is nice, but don't buy this one, July 14, 2004
By
Amanda (North America) - See all my reviews
After having a Sony Walkman for 6 years, I finally decided it was time for another. The Sony Walkman I had before has been through everything - it's been dropped, flipped over, shaken, travelled all over the country, and despite being completely abused and missing most of its external parts, it still plays beautifully. (It just looks ugly and the batteries fall out.) So, I decided to retire the 1998 Walkman and received this Psych for Christmas. Despite being a cool colour and having nice sound, after about 2 months the hold button broke. I should have returned it then since it was still under warranty, but I held onto it because I was out of the country. Soon after I got back (and after my 3-month warranty was up) the CD player stopped working completely. I think I might have accidently gently dropped and it fell a very short distance - a drop that should not have done any damage to any halfway decent electronic - but it immediately stopped working and has never played again. The display scrolls through the songs but the CD simply does not spin anymore. One time I got it to spin but it played only about 30 seconds of the first track of the cd before it quit. I've tried everything - changing the batteries, trying different discs, but nothing works. I had someone who is good w/ electronics check it out but they couldn't find anything wrong and suggested I try a lens cleaner. I almost bought one of those $10 lens cleaners but after reading the reviews on here it looks like I shouldn't even try. I don't know why Sony made this poor product. I vowed never to buy another Sony CD player, despite my positive experience with my 1998 Walkman, until today when I found another model at a reasonable price. Maybe I'll try that one. Just don't make the mistake of buying this model.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sony Psyc CD player, July 29, 2003
Awsome CD player! Has up to 40 hrs of burn time on batteries. The bass is awsome too! It will not even distort when the bass is maxed on Closure by Chevelle! For those who do not know that song, it has LOTS of bass as well as being deep! It is very hard to skip it. The battery indicator is helpful as well. I like the loop on the cd player. You can get a clip and hook it to your belt loop! Over all, a great poduct and whould highly reccomend it to some anyone!

4.0 out of 5 stars someone who doesn't like distortion, January 6, 2006
It is a decent player, and I like having TV/weather capabilities. Coding presets is handy, but not obvious to set up. Read directions--then it's a snap.

A good set of headphones purchased individually really boosts the sound in this unit. (Koss Porta-Pro's offer great sound for the money; I do research prices, and I found the best price at Amazon)

Antenna (headphone cord) has to be held straight to get decent reception too much of my time when at my desk typing or using in a sports activity. I found this true regardless of headphones used--the ones that came with the unit or my Koss phones.

It does skip on burned CDs frequently. A clean, newly burned CD went right into the unit. It skipped. --being dirty or carelessly handled wasn't the issue in my circumstance.

I wanted to give it 3 stars because for me, if I can't listen to the radio when jostling on bumpy roads or sitting indoors at my desk, (which makes the reception fuzz in and out), and... I can't gear the music to my workout or mood with burned CDs, it isn't the best product out there. However, I couldn't make it 3 stars in all fairness, because the features and the player itself are still better than average if you don't need it for what I want it for.
