4.0 out of 5 stars Pros and Cons, very durable and high quality.
This is a nice sturdy CD walkman that is excellent for exercising like jogging, stair stepping, aerobics...etc. It has a heavy duty snap cover to keep the CD in place so it will never open and fall out if dropped. You could probably throw this thing against the wall and it wouldn't break. The sound is great with extra bass boost x 1 and x 2. The program button to get...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but buy better
The Sony Model D-SJ303 is a capable portable cd player that can hack out music while absorbing shocks. On the down side, it is bulky and weighs more than other cd players. I bought this thinking that the price range would put me into a quality cd player but was disappointed when it had trouble playing HDCD discs. The sound quality was not as good as the Sony D-NF600 cd...

The program button to get it to turn on and advance the music tracs was alittle confusing until I read the directions. The ear buds are alittle funny to get used to, they fit inside the ear with an ear "hanger" but sound very good once you fit them in. The only con for me is an arm band. I wanted a CLIP on the back to clip it onto my shorts but instead a wrist band so you can't sit down and write or do anything with your hands unless you take it off. It is almost too big to put into shorts pockets too. I ended up getting a x-large safety pin to hang it from my shorts wasteband (belt loops would work if I had them) then you could fasten the velcro band around the belt loop. Hopefully they will put a belt clip on the next release of this fine walkman. I do recommend it if you don't mind wearing it on your wrist or having it bang around your belt area. I paid about 68.00 from it on Amazon with fast free shipping.

The sound quality was not as good as the Sony D-NF600 cd player that replaced the D-SJ303. Be sure to check out the Sony D-NF600, it produces better sound, weighs less, comes with similar shock absorption features, and has many many more features for just a few bucks more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gets The Job Done, August 6, 2005
This review is from: Sony D-SJ303 S2 Sports CD Walkman (Electronics)
This discman is offered at a fairly cheap price, and ultimately is a relatively good piece of technology. It met my expectations, handling my CDs perfectly, and never skips. However, at this time with a whole new wave of technological advancements, it might be a good idea to try out either an IPOD or an MP3 Player. I still sometimes use this even though I have an MP3 player, I'll pull this out and listen to any of the albums in my collection. It's very good for nice long drives to bring along, and has lasted a good two years.

To name a few other good points to this Sony Discman, it is especially durable and offers ideal sound. You can very easily adjust the bass level too, in order to maximize your listening enjoyment. As for the design and overall look of it, I quite like it, and have absolutely no complaints about it's appearance.

The only flaw that I have with this discman is that it is fairly heavy, and simply does not work well as a device to use if you want to go for a jog and listen to some tunes at the same time. It is not especially compatible for workout regimes, so if you're planning to buy it as a portable device to take to the Gym, I would not recommend it. You're better off getting something smaller for that. Also, compared to the MP3 players and IPODs, this is significantly bigger in size, and I cannot fit it into some of my pairs of shorts.

Overall though, recommended if you're looking for a cheap Discman that will play you your CDs. A great buy, and perfect for the road.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Portable CD Player I've Ever Had, January 13, 2006
By
This review is from: Sony D-SJ303 S2 Sports CD Walkman (Electronics)
I drove my mom crazy when I went through 3 CD players in less than 2 years. Then for the holidays I got this CD player, and just started laughing. When you see it, it looks like this hulk of a product and you just can't see it being a good player, but it's amazing. I'm now in college and have a loft bed at least 5 feet off the ground. I use this CD player to drown out the noise of the dorm and have accidentally knocked it off my bed and onto the floor at least three times now, and each time it turns back on with not so much as a dent. If you're looking for a player that can take a beating, this is it!

5.0 out of 5 stars best (and last) portable cd player I ever owned, October 24, 2005

This cd player has amazing shock proection, durability and is well designed. It is a bit bulky for most applications (other then throwing in a backpack) but its durability makes up for it. Mine was stolen out of my car and I replaced it with an mp3 player (still waiting for a good mp3 player to be made - and I don't want to have to install itunes on my computer to use it). I'd love to buy another of these cd players if it had mp3-cd capabilities.

i received this cd player for Christmas in 2004 and I like it a lot. The G-protection is awesome and it is really durable. I have dropped mine several times and it still works as great as ever. A very good cd player.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Very Good Quality for the Price, December 19, 2005
This review is from: Sony D-SJ303 S2 Sports CD Walkman (Electronics)
When I first used this player, it worked fine, but it started to have problems very soon after it was bought for me.

The sound quality deteriorated very quickly and the paint started to chip off. Problems it had originally are that it's very bulky, even for a sports player, it doesn't have a pause button (or at least I didn't notice one or one has to do something special to get it to pause) and the sound knob is too easy to turn, so if it bumps into something, suddenly the music is at deafening levels.

The Sony D-EJ001 CD Walkman (Blue) was bought for me as a replacement for this player, but it didn't work very well, either.
