Money down the drain,

This kit worked perfectly the first 2-3 times. Then the cassette adapter fritzed. To hear any sound at all, I had to turn up the volume full blast on both the CD player and the car cassette deck. Even then, highway speeds drowned out the sound. The sound was unbalanced between the speakers, coming out much more strongly from the right than the left. And the sound quality was horrible -- fuzzy, with a strong, deep, buzzy hum. I expected better of Sony. I bought a Maxell adapter and I have had no problems with it. Forget Sony and look elsewhere.

I have an older Sony car cassette adaptor.
On the cassette itself, there is a adjustment switch to overcome the exact problem as you stated. If you have that on this newer model of adaptor, try adjusting it.
If it does or doesn't... then it sounds to me that you simply have a dirty cassette head in you car player.
Pick up a cassette deck head cleaning kit and use it in your car cassette player. That should solve your problem.

Low quality sound and it does not work in all kind of cars. It works in my Audi A4 but it does not in my Nissan Pathfinder

Ain't what it used to be...,
This review is from: Sony DCC-E34CP Car Connecting Pack (Electronics)
Sony used to make the best cassette adapters around, and I owned several of the old ones. When they finally died after 10 years of usage, I bought a new set recently. The significant change they made was removal of the tension wheel and used a flimsy white tape for tension instead. That tape broke within 2 weeks of usage. After 2 replacements which were also short lived, I gave up and went with a different brand. Sony... you guys disappoint me.

I have heard of other kits like this having problems so I went and got the slightly more expensive Sony brand. I thought it might also work better with my Sony brand Discman. Really the only complaint is the power cord. It doesn't plug well into the cd player. I had to end up using a rubber band to keep it the power going to the unit. Even then if you move the cd player much you still have to adjust the power cord to get it to play again. I just thought since both were Sony brand that they should work a lot better together than they did.

Immediately after purchasing it, I realized it is not compatible with the tape player in my 2005 Ford Expedition. Beware Ford drivers. It will spit this tape right back atcha.....

excellent product at great price-especially the versatile adjustible car power cord with changeable plugs that allows me to plug in all of my electronics in the car. Also was less expensive to purchase this kit than the adjustible car power cord alone.

I would like to listen music from ipod on my car which does not have any aux input. I bought and tried an expensive FM transmission product. However, it's sound quality is so bad. Then, I bought and tested this SONY adapter which provide good quality of sounds with little noise (just like the noise when listening to tape). This product greatly fits my need.
