I bought this to listen to books on CD in my car, since my car CD player no longer works. This is the ideal product for that purpose. It was a bit difficult to figure out the correct setting so the player would start where it stopped. Finally I figured out the combination: When you need to stop listening, press the stop button. When you're back in the car ready to listen, press the play button. Be sure you don't turn off the car without pressing the stop button. If you do, the CD will start at the beginning.

Great product, great price!

It's as advertised......nothing fancy, just plays your cd's well without skipping. bass management is a plus.

I like the Player. Unfortunately the one we received with the same model number does not play MP3. It says on the body CD/CDR-W not MP3. So be careful!

excellent product however the buttons are black as well as the body of it, hard to see. the sound is great and i already dropped it on a tile floor and it was fine. good purchase

This kit DOSEN'T come with instructions.
1. To keep your place - press the FIRST button to the right of the display window,
BEFORE you unplug the cigarette lighter adaptor.
That's the 'STOP' button which stops the player & remembers your place.
Nothing will show in the display window.
When this player is powered by the cigarette lighter
it's getting power directly from the battery.
An automobile key doesn't have anything to do with the power to the player.
Therefore the key dosen't have anything to do with the players memory.
Of course the key is the power source needed to run the radio for sound.
If your using batteries, the player is of course self contained.

The stop button will keep your place when there is no power to the player.
Futher more, it will keep that place even if you open the player, and remover the disc.
When you re-insert the same disc it will still start from your saved place.
If you change disc the memory is cleared and the player starts over.
If you press buttons while the player is with-out power, that also will clear the memory.

2. When you want to resume play after you've pressed the stop button, PLUG IN player,
PRESS the SECOND button to the right of the display window to continue.
This button is two fold, 'PLAY & PAUSE'.
It continues were you left off from stopping, or if you DON'T unplug the player,
it will pause in place until you press it again.

Another difference between the two buttons is -
When the FIRST button (STOP) is pressed, nothing is shown in the window.
When the SECOND button (PLAY - PAUSE) is pressed, the display flashes the track your on.

This is a good kit for the money. It comes with a battery cord for the cigarette lighter,
a cassette adaptor and ear clip headphones.
It sounds great, and the hum of the cassette adaptor isn't any louder then other kits I've had.
It has good volume, but you do have to turn the radio up quite a bit,
and if you don't remember to turn it down when you switch to radio, it will blast you out.

Having bought this to listen to books on C.D. in my truck,
I've found it's easier for me to find these two buttons by FEELING
and pressing the first and/or second 'hump' to the right of the display window.

Some inconvenience's are:
No instructions are included.
The buttons are the same color as the player.
The buttons are located on the side of the player, making them more difficult to find.
It's to your advantage if you learn how to locate the buttons by FEEL,
other-wise it's an unsafe driving distraction.
At night that issue is even more challenging.

This kit is a good value that contains the two essential car adaptors.
(adaptors are becoming difficult to find, and are much more expensive by themselves)

As for the player it's self, it sounds great,
and works great, but could stand some user friendly improvements.

It is also disappointing it DOES NOT play MP3.

One of the reviewers on here mentioned the crappy sound with the cassette adapter, but I found it to work beautifully in my 1995 Miata. I didn't have to turn it way up either. Simple to look at - looks like a miniature Roomba - and works great. The only drawback is that I also have a GPS I can't live without, so I have to use the batteries on the CD player instead of the cigarette lighter hook-up. But I use this little sucker every day on my 37 minute drive to Moorpark to ride my horse, and it's a wonderful item. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. And you just can't beat Amazon's shipping: I ordered it on Tuesday about 3 p.m. and it got here the next day. I'm very impressed with both. :D

I didn't expect this portable cd player to sound as good as it does, but the sound quality is really nice. When it is played in the car (via cassette attachment) it is amazing how clear the music is, the bass is great - no tremor or static. I am satisfied especially considering the low price. The battery life is short if you use the portable cd player quite often, but nevertheless, if you are looking for something to use while exercising, walking even while cleaning the house or if you don't have a CD player in your vehicle and dont' want to put out the expense of purchasing a new cd console for your vehicle, I suggest this item.

I've been through many ipods, and got sick of the poor battery life and low sound quality. I have many CDs ranging in genre, and they sound amazing on this unit along with a pair of Audio Technica AD-700 Audio-Phile grade cans, absoultly amazing sound quality that cant be beat by any ipod/mp3 player. This unit does the job for me, good battery life compared to an ipod which you're lucky to even get a days worth out of. Good range of features, I really like the bookmark feature.

Good price too, and this is a sony product which you pay a premium for, now go back to the early 90s and buy something like this and you would be paying over 100 bucks, trust me I know I was a product of the 80s after all.

So if you're looking for something that is a cheap alternitive to an ipod, and has much better sound quality(recomending use of good quality headphones for best results) Pick one of these up, and you're also getting a good deal since as car kit is thrown in.

The D-EJ017CK plays Cd's very well, it has great sound. It's exactly what I was looking for ( all I wanted was a good cd player, and the advertisement stated that is what this would do).

This was a replacement for my car cd player that quit working. When I hooked it up it put my car cd player to shame fantastic sound& bass control. I saved my self about $150 dollars. Wow! if your car cd player quits working. don't replace it get this its only $38 and well worth it. Only one problem the controls are hard to operate but not a big problem I give it 5 Stars. J.T.
