This review is from: Sony DR-260USB PC Headset with USB and Headset/Microphone Connections (Personal Computers)
I've had this headset for about 18 months. I use it pretty much daily as a gaming headset using both teamspeak and ventrilo and, besides having to replace the foam over the end of the mic, it's still going strong. I also wear it for hours at a time and it's very comfortable. It's loose enough on me that I don't get "ear squish" even after having them on for 5-8 hours.
Sound quality is great. I am usually connected to the same servers, so I find that I don't need to adjust mic sensitivity. The only complaint is that the mute button is far too easy to press (it's large and fairly sensitive) and I often get accidentally muted.

is a great benefit for me. I use my headset for dictation on Dragon's program for dictating to the computer. I've used Logitech and others and the microphone works very well, cuts out outside noise, etc., but I was unable to hear when I had to read something back. This wonderful set does both. I like Sony and for this kind of quality I don't mind paying a few dollars more. I won't guarantee the use you may have for this item, but for me it is terriffic.

Durable and Great Sound,
This review is from: Sony DR-260USB PC Headset with USB and Headset/Microphone Connections (Personal Computers)
I've used this product for the last 4 years. I thought it was rather pricey compared with other models from Logitech, but after comparing the sound quality, I decided to keep the Sony and returned the Logitech models. I use the Sony headphones everyday, to play really loud music from iTunes without waking the dead in the middle of the night, and more importantly for Skyping and video conferencing. The sound you hear is good with a nice bass, and my phone calls are loud and clear, better than regular phone lines (or so I've been told by those I called). I've also used it for recording audio for multimedia interactive projects and there is no hissing sound like the one you get with cheaper models.
And as mentioned before, I've used it for 4 years! Talk about durability, I've dropped it and banged it against the table like a million times, - and it still works great. Well worth the money, if you ask me!

I tested this headset for use in online conferences, and have been very happy, especially with the USB junction box. Not only is this a nice lower priced headset, but the box will work with virtually every mic and headset combo I have thrown at it. The biggest problem is that many people simply do not like the banded-style headsets, and prefer earbuds.
I wish Sony sold the little silver box separately, I would buy a bunch of them! Most cheap mics and headphone/earbuds sound way better through this USB interface than directly into computer sound cards. In fact, I just recently took a very inexpensive GE earbud/mic set which was not very usable by itself, and was blown away by how great it sounded plugged into this box. It was suddenly very crisp, clean, and very usable! There are controls for both mic and headset volume, and mic muting on the box, and they work very well. If the box were sold separately, I would give it 5 stars, easy. Sony - listen up - you have a great product hiding here - sell it separately!!! With just a tiny bit of marketing, you could have a successful little product here, because there isn't much competition at this end of the market.

The USB headset works great... great sound, and I have had no complaints about the microphone from calls I have made. The seller accidentally overcharged me for S&H, but he cleared the problem up quickly. I highly recommend this item and the seller.

I bought this piece of crap about a year ago. The right earphone died a couple of months ago, and the mic died today. I expected more from Sony. Also, the cord is too long and get twisted and tangled all the time.

This headset is extremely uncomfortable. Also, the sound from the speakers is actually picked up by the microphone and makes using voice recognition software almost impossible. The noise canceling microphone is a joke. Unfortunately I can't return them because technically they are not defective, just poorly designed. I'm sticking with Sennheiser from now on.

Look at the logitech USB headphones, which I've also reviewed: Logitech 980356-0403 Stereo USB Headset 250. I would reccommend that over this pair. This costs twice as much, and it's not even a true USB headset. It connnects through a USB codec. The sound is ok, but the microphone boom seems very fragile and inconvenient to raise and lower compared to the logitech. It doesn't get 1 star because it does its job, but if I had to buy another pair, I would buy the logitech again.
