My Opinion,

The thing I like about this case is:It's soft inside, though I still keep the lens cap on, and sturdy on the outside. There is plenty of pockets for filters, spare battery, memory sticks aluminum case, and the USB cable. I do like the quick release latch to access the camera (DCS-F717). There is a belt-loop on the case if you plan to holster it on your belt. The case is good for field use. The only negative thing I have to say is...it is bulky. In my opinion, if you want a sleek, form-fitting case, and do not care about carrying extra accessories buy a sleeker case. Overall, this is a good buy.

Just what I needed.,

I was a little worried about getting this case site unseen, as I had a very specific idea of what I wanted. I ride my bike (bicycle, that is) almost everywhere I go, and I use it as a real photography tool. You can get places cars can't, notice things in a car you won't, and cover MUCH more ground a day than walking. That being said, weight and motion are MAJOR factors in the type of case I was looking for. This is lightweight and semi-rigid, so much so that I feel if I were to 'eat-it', my camera would be a-ok. It has enough room for a remote shutter release, 2-3 filters, extra battery, and several memory sticks, which fits my needs perfectly.I was a little concerned with the motion of the case however, but here's how I fixed it (to all the cyclist out there): I routed the strap through the cover flap strap of my Camelbak Rouge. Problem solved, the camera is now out of my way while I ride, does not swing down in front of me when pedaling, even out of the seat, and is still easily accessed. EXACTLY what I wanted. Keep in mind, that without this solution, the bag does swing down in front of you while riding, but I think any shoulder case would do this. Hope this helps anyone in my boat.

Great case, but the plastic latch is a piece of JUNK. The is second case of this type that I have purchased, the latch failed on both cases. Complained to Sony but they claimed no responsibility in their product. I would not recommend this camera case for this reason.

Perfect case except for the clasp,

I have several of these and use them for a Sony F717, F828, and now a Sony A100 DSLR. The key positive about this case is the design: a velcroed insert supports the L shape of the camera and keeps pressure/impact off the long lens. If you don't protect the lens in this way, the lens joint on the F717 and F828 will become increasingly loose requiring factory repair. The design is also great because of the three closeable external pockets: a mesh bag that holds a spare battery perfectly, a large zippered compartment for memory cards, and a small zippered, cushioned compartment perfect for filters such as a polarizer. The one big downside is the two release buttons for the clasp will eventually break off, requiring you to insert a car key or similar pointed object into the side of the clasp to open your bag. At this point, it's a good option to just glue some velcro to the clasp and bag and use that instead of the clasp. If you want a compact case that fits these cameras perfectly and holds just the necessities (no room for external flash or extra lens) this is just the ticket. They aren't making these anymore so good luck. :)By the way: if your F717 image sensor has failed don't throw the camera away. Check the Sony website, this problem is repaired for free regardless of warranty status.

Clasp breaks, trapping camera inside,

Don't waste your money. After less than a year of use, the clapse breaks. This makes it nearly impossible to get your camera out and renders the case useless. (Due to the design, you cannot use it without closing the clasp.) No extra storage space, either.

This is a good case, compact, and easy to tote your camera with a few accessories. One problem, the catch broke and my camera was stuck inside. I had to do a McGuyver with a safety pen to get it open. Then it was hassle for the rest of the vacation. Granted - I did use it for 2 years before it broke.

Bag works just fine for an F707,

My F707 fits snug in this bag. You kind of have to stuff the camera strap into the bag which is a little annoying, but the camera fits just fine. No internal sleeves or pouches for carriers stuff. External zipper pouches and sleeves provide plenty of room for probably 2 or three extra batteries and as man memory sticks as you'd ever need. Would of been nice of had a hand grip or something to better carry the bag with without having to put it on you shoulder though.
