Makes so much sense I wonder why it took so long to invent it. The iPod tray is the best invention since slice bread. No loose wire, the iPod does not move while the boat does and it's neatly hidden and protected behind the faceplate. Also, access to the play lists through the menu is surprisingly easy, which is something most other devices we use to connect iPods don't do properly, Very happy with this product, I'm buying a second one for my car.

I installed this in a 2012 HD Street Glide in place of the stock unit. I was an easy enough install, and works great. I like that you can sync an iPod or iPhone and plug it in and put in the tray, which will charge it while you ride and keep it concealed when you stop and get off the bike.

Seems like I'm not the only one having issues with the faceplate going blank rendering you unable to adjust volume, etc. It's a random occurance but it's too frequent to be acceptable!!
I have it installed in a motorcycle fairing and it's a huge distraction to see the faceplate lights flickering all the time and when you come to a stop and want to turn the volume down you can't do so until you wiggle the faceplate a few times to get it to light back up. If it was designed to tolerate marine use on the lake with constant bouncing and ocassional rain storms, then it should hold up to motorcycle use. Not the case!!

I do have it mounted with a water resistant cover so I haven't had any issues with moisture yet even when it sat in a MAJOR downpour.

Other than that it's a nice stereo and the iPod tray is just the coolest feature. I'm running a 200 watt amp through two Polk MM691 and the sound is awesome.
I really like the unit but the faceplate flicker is too much to tolerate so it's going up for sale. Hopefully there's another nice option(Sony or no Sony) out there with similar features.
Sorry only 2 stars but it's such a huge dissapointment.

Love the unit and like most reviewers love the tray and interface. The only negative is that if your using an IPhone the IPhone gets to hot and shuts off. I even turn mine into airplane mode and still gets to hot. Not sure if this counts as a Sony issue or how they could even fix it.

All sony in dash products have a lattent defect. They all, after a time, go into to "demo mode" which is a little adverstiement for the unit's features. The problem is that with time, the head goes into demo mode and will not allow you to access the menu to turn it off. The problem with that is you cannot use the stereo in demo mode becuase you cannot access any controls: it stays in demo mode. I have spent weeks and weeks researching this. This is a systemic problem reporting on every chat board and other site. Sony clearly knows of it, does not fix it, and does not have a solution. I spent litterally hours on on-line chats on sony support only to thave their Indian call center simply read the manual back to me. That is the problem: the manual solutions don't work.

I am left to conclude that this is a known and systemic problem that once it happens to your unit, it is done. Mine, I used all of 5 hours last boating season. The head was also kept in my house. the boat in heating storage. There is no way this is a storage or my problem. This is product defect.

So, do you feel lucky? If you get one of the bad units, and from the nubmer of on line forum chats this is pervasive, you are done

The real tragedy is it is a good unit. ITs a shame sony chose to insert this demo-commercial into the unit.

Sony DSX-MS60 marine radio issue with SiriusXM. I just installed a Sony DSX-MS60 marine radio in my 2009 Harley Streetglide. I replaced a Sony car radio I had on the bike for 4 years. Everything is working nicely except for one strange issue that will cause me to return the radio if I cannot find a solution. The problem is when SiriusXM is the source I cannot control the volume. I have the Sirius SC-C1 vehicle tuner and SNYSC1 Sirius, Sony compatible interface that I used with the replaced Sony radio. The volume is either very low where you can barely hear it or blasting very loud. There is no in between. None of the other sources has this issue. The volume level works like it is supposed to with AM/FM, iPod, Aux and USB. Anyway this is a deal breaker for me because I listen mostly to Sirius. It's really a pain in the butt installing this thing in a motorcycle and I hate to have to remove it and install another one. I'm only not giving it 1 star because it works fine other than the issue mentioned. If the problem is resolved I will raise my rating.

As far as the ipod tray its awesome. I actually use this in my Jeep Wrangler because A) it's marine certified and I've had the top off in numerous rain storms and B) people have no clue I have an ipod behind the faceplate! I bought it at Best Buy and in three years I've replaced in three times. It's a pain but their warranty covers it thankfully. The display tends to burn out and for whatever reason the wiring gets corroded fairly easy which is strange for marine certified! This is Sony's newest version but nothing has really been changed.
The main reason I keep getting this radio is the hidden tray for your mp3 player and the simple rotary knob which for some reason companies have been shying away from. Take my advice and get it from Best Buy and spend $20 for a protection plan!

This radio exceeding my expectations. The EQ gives me the ability to set my music to any level I prefer and picks up stations better than any marine radio I have had on board before. My music hasn't sounded any better. Love the in dash setup for my iPod!!! Cutting edge design.

Sounds great in my Harley. Install was really simple.
Don't miss having to hall CD's.
Plenty of power no need for any amp.
