5.0 out of 5 stars Sony DVC HD Camcorder Video Tape, August 1, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sony DVC HD 63min Videocassette 3 Pack (Electronics)
Sony tape is not the cheapest around, but why worry about capturing once-in-a-lifetime memories using less expensive brands. Sony tape holds up well with repeated recording. Picture quality is sharp and color is great when viewed on 32" LCD television. I would not buy anything else.

i taped over each tape at least ten times, for i tape something, dub it to my dvd recorder, then tape over the tape, no problems so far, whether they are better then other mini dv tapes i don't know, these are the only ones i have ever known, but i've never had what people call a dropout in sound or picture, they work great, very happy with them..........

Pros: Quality, DV compatible, no dropped frames

Cons: They are a little on the pricey side.

They are great tapes for shooting on. Like I said a bit more expensive than regular tapes but they are of much better quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Performing HD MiniDV Tape - Recommended, July 5, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sony DVC HD 63min Videocassette 3 Pack (Electronics)
Sony MiniDV tape has always worked well in our SD camcorders (Canon and Panasonic) and now that we moved to HD (Canon VIXIA HV40 HD HDV Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom), the Sony "DVC HD MiniDV" tapes are the only ones we plan to use.

The playback quality is just amazing and we have never noticed any errors in our recordings. This is very important to us since we film instructional videos for our family business and need to be sure that the video is perfect every time.

Highly Recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality tapes but pricey, December 5, 2008

I've bought these many times now and they work fine w/o problem. The last order, the tapes don't look like the picture. Seems like Sony has changed the wrapping. These are costly but sometime Amazon significantly lowers the prices on these (you just have to keep checking many times). Hopefully, the new HD camcorders w/ internal solid-state (flash) memory will make these tapes obsolete.

5.0 out of 5 stars High quality tapes for High Def recording, February 17, 2010

Sony is a trusted brand and these tapes don't disappoint. I have been using these for over 2 years now in my HD camcorder with great results. The quality is excellent and over dozens of tapes I have never had one be defective. When taping I am normally capturing something important - kids sports, music recitals, etc.. and it's not something I want to miss due to a bad tape, etc... These Sony tapes don't disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice upgrade of MiniDV videocassette, September 14, 2008

This videocassette is a nice upgrade to the HD format for those who still want to use cassettes instead of DVD's or memory cards. Call me old fashined but from my personal point of view I prefer to have the videocassette than a fragile and easily damaged DVD's and memory cards. It depends on your preferences.

I really like these tapes, but I've always been disappointed at how expensive they are. It really makes me want to purchase a flash based camcorder. If I figure out how much I spend on these tapes per year, I bet it would be totally worth it to ditch my Canon HV30 and get a flash camcorder. Hmmm...I think I'll do just that. The price and inconvenience of tape is really pushing me in that direction, but I digress...(I know, I know...too much editorializing)

Back to the product: I rarely have any problems with this quality product. I would buy twice as many if they weren't more than $8 a piece on average.

4.0 out of 5 stars good quality tape, March 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sony DVC HD 63min Videocassette 3 Pack (Electronics)
I can't say anything about other HD mini tapes, but this is a very good quality tape. No problems when transferring to computer, and editing in software. Also shows good on HD tv when hooking up hdmi cord from camcorder to tv. The only problem I have is after recording on multiple times over & over again... looses play back. Can't view video on camcorder in vcr mode. I believe this is what's called video drop out. This happened on 1 tape... so far it didn't happen on other tapes. Other than that I guess you have to make sure you dub or run video's off tape as soon as possible so you won't loose Quality or playback. That's the reason why I much prefer digital camcorders that run off memory sticks or hard drive... thank god I have camcorders that features this. Other than that, this cassette does have a great video view. I can't tell the difference between the cassette or a hard drive, or memory stick footages.
