5.0 out of 5 stars College Student Usage, February 2, 2005

This review is from: Sony ECM-ZS90 Switchable Stereo Microphone with Super Directional Mode (Electronics)
I received my microphone yesterday and was eager to use if for my Molecular Biology class today. I sit in the back of the classroom which seats close to 50 and recorded the professor who speaks in a soft voice. When I played back the recording, I had to turn my speakers up but the clarity was perfect. I understood every word he said.

I also use the program Microsoft OneNote. I would highly recommend this to anyone who must take notes on any type of lecture. As you record the lecture with this program, it places audio bookmarks to the left of EVERY LINE YOU TYPE. After class, I go back over my lines of notes with a question mark next to them (Ctrl+3 puts a noticable question mark in front of the line). I hit the play button and it immediately picks up the lecture at the point in time that I entered the line. This way, when 50 minute lecture, it doesn't take any searching at all to find what you want. Also, with the Windows Media Audio 9.1 Voice codec, the 50 minute lecture was condensed into a 3MB file - hardly a 4 minute song is size.

I have yet to use the stereo capabilities, but I plan on recording some piano music later. (This is why I bought the version with dual-functionality.)

I highly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for use in lecture, September 28, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sony ECM-ZS90 Switchable Stereo Microphone with Super Directional Mode (Electronics)
I purchased this microphone to record my lectures on my Averatec Tablet PC. I also use Microsoft OneNote. The microphone is superb. I sit in the middle of the classroom, and I took my digital voice recorder back two days after using this mic. The sound clarity is equal to my voice recorder, and I keep the mic on my desk behind my computer. I can start recording exactly when class begins, so no more forwarding through ambient noise to search for the beginning of lecture. My lecture notes are tabbed by OneNote so I can find exactly where my professor discussed a certain topic, and with my tablet, I can draw the figures on my computer that the professor draws on the board. I look forward to finishing my senior year with this mic and using it in grad school.
