Plug it into your phone and then your USB port on your computer, a PC or laptop works fine, and treat your phone's memory as a mass storage device.

If you can{t find the USB cable that came with your Sony Ericsson phone, you can buy this cable, it{s the exact same one that came with your phone when you purchased it

This is a simple product. I use it with my W300i and it does exactly what it is supposed to do. Plug it into your phone and then your USB port on your computer, a PC or laptop works fine, and treat your phone's memory as a mass storage device. It makes your phone look like a flash drive that you can drag and drop files to. Use it to transfer ringtones, wallpapers, themes, videos, or whatever else. The files don't even have to be usable to the phone itself to store them on it either.

i needed to place images taken on my Sony Ericsson phone's camera onto my laptop, mostly for work but for my gf as well, but a USB Data Cable was not included in my phone package. after searching about, i found this item and ordered it. enough to say, i couldn't be more pleased. i use Windows, so no software is req'd. just plug it into your phone, the other end into an available USB port on your pc, and uploads are pretty much automatic. the only way it might be easier would be if someone else did it for you.

Buy this cheap cord, download free mp3 files from the internet along with free pictures and transfer to your phone. Also, transfer any pictures/videos you take to your computer without a data plan from your provider.

Pays for itself after just a few new ring tones.

I have a Z710i, and the data cable works okay as a data cable. Connecting isn't as quick as I would like, but I don't think that's the cable's fault -- I'm fairly certain it's the phone's fault.

My beef with the data cable is that my phone will not charge through it. It seems like quite an oversight, for a USB cable to not incidentally charge the connected device if the user wants it to.

BRIEFLY:

The wire allows for easy transfer of media files - photos, DRM-free music, videos, etc. between a Sony Ericsson phone and any computer that has a USB port.

It is very useful for phone users such as myself who are only interested in a 'phone calls only' plan and are not willing to pay the phone company some extra monthly charge for super-expensive data plans.

It is needed because the Sony Ericsson phones do NOT support a standard USB interface so a 'normal' USB cable will not work.

EXTENDED DISCUSSION:

Our old Sony Ericsson's TM506 came without a USB interface wire. It was a 'free' phone and the phone company wished they could nickel and dime us forever through their 'plans' and and make us pay various monthly service fees for the privilege of downloading a couple of songs or uploading photos or videos we made using the phone's camera. The Sony Ericsson's phones lacking a standard USB interface is probably intimidating enough to persuade most users to succumb to the phone company's demand of an extra $10 or more per month for 'web' access. But it does not need to be this way.

Since we only wanted a phone that made phone calls this inexpensive wire allows us to squeeze some extra functionality off our free phone by allowing us to transfer media files in and out of the phone by connecting it to a computer. It's easy, it requires no software installation and we don't need to pay one extra dime to the phone company for the privilege.

I had ordered two cables from different sellers before. Often the connection have problem, had to move it around to get it to connect. This maker's connection is solid and did not have any problem so far.
