5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing deal
The HPM-70's are FAR cheaper than their siblings on Amazon, even the lower siblings such as the HPM-65, probably because these are OEM, meaning they don't come in the retail packaging. Ordered from SF Planet for under $10 including shipping, recieved from across the country in three days, amazing deal. They sound fantastic for the price, I'd buy them if they were $30...

3.0 out of 5 stars Very standard
Sound:
These headphones are pretty standard. However they have a very good sound, bass and tweeter is very good. So if you look for a good set of earphones not very hi-tec this is a very good item for the price.

Durability:

I got these shipped with my Sony Ericsson W800 phone and I used them for about 4 months before they failed...

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing deal, January 12, 2008

The HPM-70's are FAR cheaper than their siblings on Amazon, even the lower siblings such as the HPM-65, probably because these are OEM, meaning they don't come in the retail packaging. Ordered from SF Planet for under $10 including shipping, recieved from across the country in three days, amazing deal. They sound fantastic for the price, I'd buy them if they were $30. Cord is thin and light but seems sturdy and flexible enough. Fits comfortably, came with three sizes of earbud tips. Bass is unexpectedly strong, midrange is decent, upper end leaves something to be desired but then again, I'm comparing these to much more pricey headphones from Shure. Detail is good for the price, sounds moderately colored. Good for general every day listening, wish the 3.5mm cord was a little longer so I could use these as a backup for my computer.

The ear buds have a 6" cord or so with 3.5 mm male jack, comes with a cord extension that has 3.5mm female with mic and button attached, other end of the extension is the proprietary fast port connector that plugs into phone. Tested with a K790a, I'm going to get a bigger memory card and use it as an mp3 player, sound quality is almost identical to a stand alone mp3 player with these earbuds. Highly recommended.

Sound:
These headphones are pretty standard. However they have a very good sound, bass and tweeter is very good. So if you look for a good set of earphones not very hi-tec this is a very good item for the price.

Durability:

I got these shipped with my Sony Ericsson W800 phone and I used them for about 4 months before they failed.

The right speaker just went dead. However, I noticed there was a problem with them since I got them because I had to move about the conector. So, this could be one in a million.

Fitting:

These hearphones come with three different heads for different ear sizes. I used the smallest and were very comfortable. Not too much problem to fit and they never got loose, even when I was running.

General use:

I noticed they are affected by sweat, so you don't want to have them with too much moist. The microphone always worked fine, and didn't cause too much extra noise when talking.

Warranty:

Sony warranties these for a year. So if you get them and fail, you can still get a new set from Sony withing the first year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent sound, but cord's a bit long, January 15, 2008

I bought this to replace the one I lost. This is the original brand, not a generic. The sound is excellent and the hands-free feature works very well (I use it in the car). As others have written, I wish the cord were much shorter. The cord to one ear is long and the one to the other ear is extra-long, which make them unwieldy. I would have also preferred that the cords to both ears be of equal length. But given the excellent sound, I see no reason to change to another brand.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good buy for Walkman, April 6, 2009

Bought this for a W760a. It seems to be a good quality OEM made product. It's convenient to be able to listen to the radio or mp3s and be able to make or accept a call without changing headsets. Earphone quality is good and microphone quality is about what you would expect from a dangling type mic - volume okay, but background noise and echo are picked up. I don't really care for the Sony unequal length earbud cords, but some people prefer them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sent a knock-off instead of the read deal!, September 30, 2008
This review is from: Sony Ericsson Stereo Portable Handsfree HPM-70 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I was sent a knock-off version of the Sony Ericcson headphones. I know this for two reasons. First, I ordered this from another vendor just two weeks earlier for my phone. The headset came in and sounded great. This set sounds noticeably worse in every way. More importantly, The green logo is not on the second set as on the first and the back plate on one is already gone. This is definitely an attempt to sell the original equipment as genuine and then switching to another lower-priced item.

My original white head piece that came with my phone died. I found this the only difference is it is black and no clip came with it to clip the mic close. Works great, sound is great and even without the clip people can hear me just fine. Super bargain!

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice all-Sony system, falls out of my ears, November 9, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sony Ericsson Stereo Portable Handsfree HPM-70 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I bought these and have used them several times in the past month. If you are completely still and are lucky, they will fit in your ears and sound good, as they did when I first received them from Amazon. Unfortunately, I then went into the real world, where you have to stand up, move around, things like that. This headset isn't so hot for those days.

The first thing you notice is that the earbud cables are unequal length, so if one falls out from the combined weight of the cords, the other follows. And since the rubber pieces are slippery, they do fall out of your ears easily. The mic part would really benefit from a clip to keep the set on better. So because the wires are unequal length and there's no stabilizing clip, I found myself pushing the shorter-wired bud back in my ear every 30 seconds so the whole thing wouldn't fall off.

Since in actual use (walking) the earbuds wouldn't stay seated, bass response was poor and lots of ambient noise got in. I could hear calls but listening to music wasn't much fun (or very loud).

The good news is that the set consists of the earphones, which to me were just mid-range Sony Fontopia-style earbuds, and the cellphone connector/mic section. Because the earbuds connect to the mic with a standard 1/8" headset jack, you can replace the Sony earbuds with your choice of better headphones -- anything from Sennheiser or Shure buds all the way to high-end Grado cans -- and still have a working microphone to make calls with. While your mileage may vary as far as fit, I think most of those other 'phones would fit in your ears better than the Sonys included in this set. I don't believe this set comes with different size earpieces, another strike against them.

So, by themselves, the headset from Sony leaves a bit to be desired. As a solution which allows you to use anyone's headset with your Sony phone for just a few dollars, this is a good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy with purchas, January 7, 2009

I was a little nervous with purchasing this item with so many different opinions about it, but I'm glad I did. The headset can be interchanged with another pair of headphones if you would like, but I have found that I like the sound quality of the set I purchased. The bass and sound quality is awesome and it almost seems as if the earphones are noise canceling. However, please do not drive with both in your ears, you won't be able to hear the traffic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome headphones, December 30, 2008
This review is from: Sony Ericsson Stereo Portable Handsfree HPM-70 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I got these headphones for my sony ericsson w350a and they work like a charm. Headphone equality was good for the price and the ability to swap in your own headphones is nice. My only gripe is that you can't use the ear buds them-self easily as the cord is mad short but since the adapter cord is long using them with the phone doesn't have the same issue. Overall great bang for the buck and the ability to swap in your own headphones is REALLY nice.

2.0 out of 5 stars careful not to get the black version, June 30, 2008
This review is from: Sony Ericsson Stereo Portable Handsfree HPM-70 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I just got the black version from MyNetDeals. The sound quality is nothing like the original one, there is no bass at all. All the music sounds terrible through this earphone. I would like to return it, but shipping charge is not refundable. Have to find another replacement.
