With a built-in Walkman 2.0 player (controlled through dedicated buttons on the flip cover) and integrated FM radio, you'll be able to listen to your favorite tunes and radio programs wherever you roam. It's also compatible with downloads from AT&T Mobile Music. Other features include Bluetooth for handsfree communication and stereo music streaming, 1.3-megapixel camera/camcorder, Memory Stick Micro (M2) expansion, full web browser with RSS reader, access to personal email and instant messaging, and up to 7 hours of talk time.

AT&T Service
This phone operates on GSM 850/1800/1900 networks and can handle high-speed data connectivity via AT&T's EDGE network (which stands for "Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution"), with availability in more than 13,000 US cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. This third-generation, high-speed, mobile data and Internet access technology is fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services (with average data speeds between 75-135Kbps), including video and music clips, full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and email on the go.

The phone has a built-in web browser for MEdia Net downloads and mobile web browsing. AT&T's MEdia Net service enables you to receive and send emails, read news headlines, get weather updates, download games and ringtones, and more. The AT&T Mobile Music platform includes the ability to sideload music with Napster and eMusic with the built-in Pocket Tunes Deluxe application, listen to live radio with XM Radio Mobile, discover new songs with MusicID and more. You can also access XM Radio Mobile, which provides 25 of the best XM Radio channels, featuring commercial-free rock, hip-hop, country, jazz and more (additional monthly fee; free three-day trial included).

It's also pre-loaded with AT&T's Mobile Banking application, which is compatible with accounts from banks including Wachovia, SunTrust, Synovus, and BancorpSouth. Mobile Banking from AT&T affords you the flexibility to stay on top of your banking needs while you're on the move, enabling you to check your account balance, securely transfer funds between your eligible accounts, view and pay bills, and review your transaction history. AT&T customers pay no additional fee to access mobile banking and, because the application resides on the handset, the service is optimized to reduce the number of new page views necessary to complete a transaction. Minimal data usage charges apply and vary based on individual use.

The Sony Ericsson W350 flips open to reveal an alpha-numeric keypad.

Play your music with integrated controls on the exterior of the flip.
Phone Features
Weighing in at 2.8 ounces, the straight-lined, minimalist W350 has a thin plastic flip cover protecting the keypad and measures just 0.4 inches thin--sleek enough to fit comfortably with no bulges into your pocket or purse. The exterior of the flip cover includes music playback keys, while under the flip you'll find an alpha-numeric keypad, five-way navigation button, send/end keys, and two soft keys. It has a 2-inch LCD screen with a 176 x 220-pixel resolution and support for 262 colors. The phone has an internal 14 MB memory, which can be expanded by Memory Stick Micro (M2) media up to 4 GB in size. You can store up to 1000 contact entries in the phone book, which also supports picture/ringer ID, caller groups, and multiple numbers per entry.

The W350’s Walkman 2.0 player can easily be accessed and operated even without opening its flip cover. With Walkman on Top, key MP3 functions including Play, Pause and Scroll are outside the phone’s flip cover so you can use it just like you would a standalone MP3 player. The W350 makes it straightforward to transfer music onto your phone. Whether your favorite tracks are on a CD or on your computer, all you need to do with the phone's intuitive Media Manager software is drag your tracks from your computer onto your phone via a USB cable.

This Walkman phone features MegaBass enhancement for added depth of sound, a flight mode that lets you keep listening to tunes with the phone's network connectivity turned off, and the PlayNow feature that enables you to download new music tones directly to the phone. It's compatible with MP3 and AAC/AAC+/eAAC+ formats. The phone also includes a built-in FM radio with RDS, which displays the name of the currently playing song (when tuned to compatible radio stations).

This phone provides Bluetooth version 2.0 wireless connectivity with EDR (enhanced data rate), and includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, and audio/video remote control. With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. You can connect your laptop (either via Bluetooth or wired USB) and enjoy dial-up networking--surf the Internet, send email, and access files from a server.

Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, and sound via MMS messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging possibilities. The phone also ships with a built-in email client with support for POP3, IMAP4, and SMTP protocols, while the included Access NetFront Web browser allows you to surf full HTML web sites. Push email is also supported, allowing you to have instant email on your mobile phone, just like on your home computer. Messages are sent directly to your phone as soon as they arrive. T9 text entry, a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

Other features include:

  • 1.3-megapixel camera for capturing still photos, with 4x digital zoom and video capture
  • Flight mode allows you to safely use the non-wireless functions of this phone (such as music, games, or organizer functions) on an airplane during flight
  • Instant messaging via AOL, Windows Live, Yahoo!
  • Organizational tools: calendar, calculator, alarm clock, tasks, timer, notes, stopwatch

4.0 out of 5 stars thin flip phone, mp3 player phone, September 20, 2008
I got this phone for free when I added a line to an existing account. I went to the AT&T store and they said it would be 60 bucks or something, but then I told them it was free online, so they gave me the online price.

I own the white version of this phone.
The phone is very thin (they advertise it to be the thinnest flip phone on the market), and has a long, somewhat odd shape, but I got used to that very quickly.

I put a screen protector on the screen right after I got it (5 dollars at Walmart for a pack of 8 or so large pieces in the electronics section - DON'T buy the 30 dollars a sheet rip-off ones, waste of money), so I don't anticipate any damage to the screen anytime soon.

The flip cover is a little bit flimsy, but it's not a big issue. Unless you treat your phone very badly, throw it around or willingly push the cover back waaaaay beyond where you need it to be to talk, you should be just fine.

The back cover does not have an "easy release". Most phones usually just say "push here" and the cover slides right off. I never understood that. How often do you open the back cover of your phone?? I never do, except on my old phones (a Motorola and a Kyocera), the back cover came off, and the battery fell out everytime I dropped the phone even from a couple of feet. I've dropped this phone quite a few times, and the cover has never, ever come off. I had to take it off once to install the memory card, and it took me a couple of minutes to get it off! But I'd rather spend two minutes taking it off once, than spend 5 minutes every day collecting the pieces and putting my phone back together.

The phone has a "lock" option - a small key on the top locks the phone's MP3 function, but when you open it to make a call you don't have to unlock, it does it automatically.

It does have an MP3 player, and no, it does not come with a memory card. I bought a 4GB card on Amazon (Sandisk), and that works great. Sony Ericson says the phone only accepts up to 2 GB, but my 4GB works just fine, so I would imagine 8GB to work as well.

This phone is very easy to handle, very intuitive to operate. No funky menu buttons and things hidden 8 layers deep in some obscure menu.

Bluetooth function works great, pairs quickly with my headset, as well as my computer.
The phone has a camera, but it's not that great (1MP), but the camera quality was not important to me, I use a camera for pictures and not a phone...

Overall, unless you are very rough with your phone, I would definitely recommend this phone.

3.0 out of 5 stars Love the size but small buttons and iffy durability, September 8, 2008
My Motorola RAZR V3i died on me at the start of a road trip so I needed a phone NOW. I went to my local ATT shop and the Sony Ericsson W350 immediately caught my attention.

I love the size of the phone. It is very thin and small. I also like black and orange colors. The display is very bright and I am happy with the size of the screen. The price was right, too, only $30 after mail-in rebate. I like the fact that it has a radio tuner in the phone although I know I'll likely never use it. I never used the mp3 player on my RAZR and I'll likely not use this phone as an mp3 player, either. However, the faux buttons on the flip are neat and the player itself seems very intuitive.

Now for the bad stuff! The keys feel very cheap, flimsy, and are very small. I don't text so this should not be too much of an issue for me. However, even typing in phone numbers has proven to be a little more difficult then it should be. I like the rubberized feel of the case but the flip is very flimsy. It easily comes off at the hinges so this should prevent you from breaking it off. I haven't had it come off but I've only had it for a few days. Be careful not to lose it if it comes off! Also, it doesn't come with a memory card micro! What a ripoff! Why not throw in at least a 512 mb card?

The battery life seems average and the call quality and reception seems a little worse then my old RAZR. The external speaker is quite weak.

Considering the price and how easily it slips into a pocket I think I will accept the average call quality and reception. It's not a bad phone but you may want to make sure that this is the right phone for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars G VanHorn, January 25, 2009
I do have this phone and it is very thin and the buttons are small. It is a good phone for a woman that has small fingers. I did purchase a memory card for it so I could use the walkman feature. The rubberized feel to it is nice you don`t have to worry about scratches showing on the phone or finger prints. There is a down side to this phone though if you are use to using a blue tooth. You have to watch which one you get because the one I was using kept seperating from the phone. that was a good plantronics ear piece it was a good thing I had a second one. That is a scala 500 I don`t have a problem with it separating at all. I have been using bluetooth ear pieces for five years. The blue tooth does pair with the phone really easy the down side to this phone. Also is if you are use to using the voice dial or voice tags this phone does not have that feature. that is one feature I really do miss having on my phone it was used all the time by me.
