5.0 out of 5 stars Good phone to have
1. The real phone model is x10i (which I guess "i" stand for "international" version)
2. After received, I install Sony Erricson PC Companion Software which will allow me to upgrade to Android 2.1 update 1
3. Phone look nice, compact (compare to other phone same class); however the back cover made of plastic, which makes it look cheap!!!.

I would not recommend this phone. Initially I started out a bit happy, until I noticed the horrible battery life. I was averaging about 8 hours of low usage, which meant the phone would be dead before I got home at night. 5.0 out of 5 stars Good phone to have, January 31, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sony Ericsson X10EUBK Xperia X10 Unlocked Phone with GPS, Android OS, 8.1 MP Camera and QWERTY Keyboard - Unlocked Phone - No Warranty - Sensuous Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
4. Screen protector also included (even x10i screen is anti-scratch)
5. Phone works as I expected, pretty big screen, vivid color. 8.1M camera with smile detection, and other features seem nice to have.
6. Take me a while to familiar with phone behavior, but once I get used to it, I like it.
7. Virtual keyboard is nice in landscape mode, but difficult to use in portrait mode.
8. If turn on WiFi, battery will be drained for a day, (but the same for Droid 2, Droid X). Turn off Wifi, it may last for 2 days. Set screen brightness to lowest level may extent more, and you can adjust its brightness by using widgets short cut.
9. So far, I will happy with this phone!
10. Without warranty, it might be potential problem!!!

Update on 06/16/11:
- Phone is still working :).
- Another firmware update couple months ago which allow to do "multitouch" feature on X10i now. I think it is a big reason many guys don't want to buy X10 before.
- Camera doesn't have flash (but a small LED), that will make you disappointed in dark place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Execellent phone.., December 16, 2010

This review is from: Sony Ericsson X10EUBK Xperia X10 Unlocked Phone with GPS, Android OS, 8.1 MP Camera and QWERTY Keyboard - Unlocked Phone - No Warranty - Sensuous Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I've heard about a lot of problem, but new firmware updated fixed them all.

- Battery problem with OS 1.6 --> Please update to the latest firmware, everything will be fixed. Additional option: go to Ebay and buy couple more batteries for back-up which costs me $10 (which can't be done with Iphone)

- My suggestion, go with OS 2.1, all inconveniences have been fixed, additional great features have been added, phone runs faster.

Pros:

- Large & beautiful big screen.
- Fast processor, great speaker.
- Very good camera & HD movie recorder.
- Sensitive touch screen.
- 3D games are awesome

Cons:

- In-call volume is a little bit low
- I am having about 5% call dropped

Excellent phone. Cover my expectative. Android is an excellent system. The only problem is the version of the system.
Why Sony Ericcson launch this phone with 1.6 Android OS in instead of 2.2?

I would not recommend this phone. Initially I started out a bit happy, until I noticed the horrible battery life. I was averaging about 8 hours of low usage, which meant the phone would be dead before I got home at night. The 2.1 update (that took an extremely long time) made this somewhat better, but Sony has shown that they are terrible at rolling out updates at a reasonable pace.

That actual deal breaker is a problem with the USB connection. Forums online have shown that it fails after 4-6 months, and I too have had this problem. While some people are successfully having it covered under the warranty, not all are. And the warranty is only a year long, so there is almost no chance this phone will survive the entire length of a 2 year contract. I'm hoping that SE comes up with a remedy for this fault, but I won't count on it. Until then, I would highly recommend that others avoid this phone.

I was so happy to know that SE was coming out with a android phone, but I still wait a whole year to buy this model because I know by expirience sony ericsson always has software issues with their phones,Im starting to realize that sony is not as good as they claim to be, their phone software is still has the same problems from 5or more years back, for example wifi connectivity, with my nexus one, my phone stays connected all the time even if the phone goes to a sleep mode, and when I go out my 3g mode kicks in, when Im back home my phone switches automaticly to wifi mode, sony ericsson phone are difficult to get connected to a wifi network, and dont let me get started on the other issues concerning their old and outdated interfaces, going back to the X10 they claiming is a 8 mp camera (whata joke!) the pic quality is awful and they calling the little light they put on the phone a camera flash...and the so call timescape is the biggest joke, the facebook or tweeter accounts never updates, I could be writing all day about all the sony issues, but I have a life to live, so Sony get ur thing right or people will gonna get tire of all the disappointments, I have everthing sony in my home, but im starting to see my other options for my next TV, music system, camera, and phones, well actually I have a HTC phone now, and is wonderful..be careful sony ur going down!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Slick phone more compact than the offereings from the American Providers.. perfect size and fully customizable without hn, December 31, 2010
After considering many smart phones in this class and all the carrier non-sense that goes along with these "data-locked' phone contracts from the US Carriers, ATT, T-Mobile, Verizon. Why would you consider a Smartphone that you would like to have the ability to take abroad with you, if you have to pay for a data service that would most likely triple your cellular package rates? The Xperia X10 is a great Smartphone. The Timescape and Media Scape interfaces are really sleek. The 8.1 Mb camera resolution surpasses many of the other 4" display phones in its nearest Smartphone segment. The Android Éclair 2.2 is not as painful or difficult as you would imagine, the PC Companion installer app. Its pre-installed Android 1.6 did have that slick thumb swipe launching mechanism which made the phone more "slick" than the original I-phone slide to open gesture. All you need to do is plug in the USB cable that is supplied which the brand new X1 remember to hold that back key, when connecting the USB to your PC, as with all other Sony-Ericsson's in the past, Its their trade mark procedure. The update is painless really.
Purchasing from Amazon you have the reliability of a trusted seller, middle man agent, therefore you can rest assured that you will receive the product that you worked so hard to be able to have, use. Very nice incorporation of Android Apps.; easy to find, download.

1.0 out of 5 stars CRAP DO NOT BUY, July 28, 2011
This review is from: Sony Ericsson X10EUBK Xperia X10 Unlocked Phone with GPS, Android OS, 8.1 MP Camera and QWERTY Keyboard - Unlocked Phone - No Warranty - Sensuous Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I brought this phone a year ago, after 9 months started randomly restarting. I never dropped the phone and took extremely good care of it (I had a case, cleaned it every week, never had too many applications running, etc...)

well now it works for 20 minutes then turns off, doesn't even work as a phone anymore extremely unreliable.

and apparently im not alone, if you go on sony ericssons website and click on the xperia x10 support forum you'll find hundreds if not thousands of complaints about random reboots and the phone stops working.

and sony ericsson's support is terrible they dont care at all about their customers.

never buy a sony ericsson product, they robbed me of 520 dollars for a piece of crap that barley worked a year (a Nokia without a color screen is a better phone than this)

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this phone without warranty!, June 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sony Ericsson X10EUBK Xperia X10 Unlocked Phone with GPS, Android OS, 8.1 MP Camera and QWERTY Keyboard - Unlocked Phone - No Warranty - Sensuous Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
With a lot of excitement and expectation I bought this phone, but I was sadly disappointed when, all of a sudden, it stopped charging. On amazon, this phone has NO WARRANTY when unlocked, so I couldn't make a claim. After having this problem fixed (barely) the volume buttons (on the right side) stopped working as well! And there's no solution for it. With resignation, I finally found an app with which I could, at least, handle the volume on this piece of, ehm, "technology". But, to my surprise (not much of a surprise, really) now the phone won't establish a connection with ANY computer, so it's in the shop, yet again.

Save yourself some trouble, Samsung Galaxy S, Nexus, HTC Desire, or any other brand would, definitively, make a better impression, with better costumer service (updates and stuff, cause still waiting for Android Froyo or Gingerbread).

This review is from: Sony Ericsson X10EUBK Xperia X10 Unlocked Phone with GPS, Android OS, 8.1 MP Camera and QWERTY Keyboard - Unlocked Phone - No Warranty - Sensuous Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I expected much from this phone but it turns out very bad!!!
- Battery sucks! (i have no idea why Sony produces this, you just have to recharge more than 2 or 3 times a day)
- Audio sound sucks! (it sounds just like a few dollars mp3 player)
- Photo (hmmm... it don't think it is 8.1 Megapixel quality)
Overall, find another phone...!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars The worst, October 5, 2010
This review is from: Sony Ericsson X10EUBK Xperia X10 Unlocked Phone with GPS, Android OS, 8.1 MP Camera and QWERTY Keyboard - Unlocked Phone - No Warranty - Sensuous Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Had it for 3 months and started malfunctioning like many other users. This phone suffers from different serious problems on both the hardware and software fronts. the software is outdated and won't be updated for months to come if ever. it's battery draining and useless. the hardware is supposedly great on a specification sheet, but in reality the phone suffers from a very low in-call volume, almost unusable outside or in bust streets, the battery lasts for a day max, the phone is also the source of many problems for it's users, and one look at the company's own support forum shows that several patches of the phone have defective mother boards that show as constant restarts and over heating.
this is an expensive investment, so think it through before you go and buy this phone.
