5.0 out of 5 stars Great voice recording!
This microphone makes your voice sound really rich and is great to eliminate the humming sound of my camcorder and other background noise. It only works well within a few inches of your mouth however.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sub-par
I'm a tenor who use pc to record my vocal. This mic is just so-so, slightly better than a chat-mic. My major complaint about it is that it apparently does not have a 'pop' filter that reduces explosive noise due to proximity and breathing. If you're serious about getting your vocal performance recorded nicely, this mic is not for you.

I bought this mic because I wanted to make a homemade karaoke system. A mic, music devocalizer, and nice speakers does the trick. I couldn't get two mics to work together but I'm working on that. As for quality, it is somewhat quiet but you can always turn up your volume for that. Plus, many people don't realize that PCs don't run mic sound through the speakers on default. You go to the Volume Control Panel for that and check the box Microphone. The only two problems I see with this are it's sensitivity for bass (even knocking the cord around gets picked up) and that you have to hold it close to your mouth (maybe a result of mediocre uni-directional engineering). Either way, it works for random fun nights of singing with friends but I doubt people doing real recording would trust this thing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Liked it, Loved it, then came the frustration., July 22, 2006

Exactly what the title describes. When I first got the mic it worked fine, and there were no problems... I used it for my PC for recording but the volume was kinda low. Well, I've had the mic for about a month now and the wire has gotten really sensitive and the cable has become loose real easy on the mic, and and that causes the mic to not detect sound, and there is lateness in responding sometimes. The mis is good but the cable is very sensitive.

I purchased this microphone & I am returning it the same day. I was looking for a microphone that would work with my pc & had a little better quality than the standard ones you get with a new computer. Sound coming from this was so lo, windows couldn't even detect a voice being transmitted.

Can't complain too much, it was less than $10. I have not tried this product with other devices. I use my pc for all of my recording.

It's pretty inexpensive, but it does a great job. Great sound quality for vocals and music. My only complaint is there it pops rather loudly when you turn it on and off. I don't know if that's something with all mics or just this one, but it's sort of annoying when you're trying to edit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good cheap microphone, August 1, 2007
This review is from: Sony F-V120 Uni-Directional Vocal Microphone with Built-In On/Off Switch (Electronics)
This product is excellent for it's price. It's cheap, but it gets the job done if you just want to record something onto your computer. I haven't tried it on a karaoke machine or on stage or anything but it works for just basic use. Hasn't given me any problems.

Nice sound and fairly sturdy. Cord is a bit thin and could be longer, but adequate for Karaoke which we use it for. Conveniently has 2-jack adapter thing so you could use it for more than one device. Picks up voice nicely (don't have to have your mouth right up against it.

This microphone works beautifully with our karaoke system. No complaints at all. Sounds clear and is great for the price, especially.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great mic for recording vocals/guitar, March 26, 2006
By
This review is from: Sony F-V120 Uni-Directional Vocal Microphone with Built-In On/Off Switch (Electronics)
I use this mic for recording my vocals and guitar (both together) in the computer and this mic does absolutely wonderful job.Plugged in the 'mic in' input of the normal consumer soundcard (ectiva , which i have) , it gives very good quality recordings , considering its price.

Even in an atmosphere , with air blowing or foot taps or vehicles passing by (not very loud though) , it catches no noise. It is truely uni-directional , i.e. it will record only that sound , which you produce in front of it , in a certain narrow angle.

It almost competes with mics like shure SM57 or condenser mics etc.You can see it yourself here at my soundpage , where each and every recording has been made using this mic (with vocals and guitar both simultaneously recorded through this mic) here -

www.soundclick.com/gn-rahul

The kinks that you may notice is *not* because of this mic.It is only the result of my very less ram (only 128) running audacity and win 98 SE.With computers having ram more than 256 mb , this mic will record like a breeze.

Perfect for recording that acoustic guitar of yours and of course your vocals.Works as a great karaoke mic too.

What else do you want ?And it requires no XLR cables and all that expensive stuff. It will record all drums etc for you too.

For a shure SM57 or any 100 $ something mic , you can get 10s of this.Go for it !

Great !
