When I'm going to buy a product online, I usually spend a good amount of time researching on the internet for reviews and how many stars the product has. I also compare it with other products from different years and I look if older features has been improved.
This camera in particular has so many good and new features and good reviews that is very difficult to do not like it right away.
Its light, good looking, small, and with a great video quality.

The sony high definition camera sr11 its my favorite HD handycam so far - this year :) -
Let's get the facts:

Good things about this beauty:

- Besides that you won't have to be carrying a mini dv tape anymore (which it can be a little anoying these days when you have to find for a store that sells them), it has a 60gb Hard drive incorporated which it can be plenty space using the new format MTS that sony, canon and panasonic cameras are using.
But, even when you thought that your memory storage could be limited by this, it also has a SD memory slot that makes it very convenient when you want to connect the device into someone else computer without using a cable.
- If you count with a HDTV or monitor, you can always plug a cable from the camera and connect it to them and you will have the desire resolution that you were looking.
But, if you haven't change your TV and you still refuse to move to the new "digital" era (just kidding!), the RCA connectors there will always be there to help you... specially if you are a filmmaker and you want to know how the image looks when you don't have a 16:9 panel.
- A flat digital screen to make your life easier. If you like touching things, then you will love this feature, because you can immediately select the options/settings just touching the screen without any needs for pressing the buttons. It also comes with a remote control, so more comfortable it couldn't be.
- I love the idea that you can also calibrate the image manually and digitally. That way you can play when you are recording, getting a more personal idea of what kind of shots you want to get or screwing it at the same time, but feeling good with it.
- But over all, the stereo microphone and the quality of it. It's fantastic. I comes with a input, in case that you want to try your own one.

The not so cool part:

- The MTS format... so, what happen with this is like a two-edge sword. While the format makes it great to compress some video and still keep a great quality, if your computer is not strong enough to encode this format, then you will going to have a bunch of problems when you are editing. You need at least a good graphic card for your pc or mac, or just get a HD-card and this will stop the suffering. Even when you download the latest codecs for your computer; if you use Final cut, adobe premier, vegas, or any good editing software, you pain it will increase when you are rendering unless you downgrade the quality, or you put your computer up to these modern days. True that.
- Sony makes things to work with sony. So we have here the little sliver in the finger. I bought an extra mic to connected to the camera, but it wouldn't fit. I spent $[...] bucks on something that sadly I cannot use with it, but I learned my lesson. :)
- You can feel too cool with the new camera and the rest of the universe can disappear around you. Just kidding!
