5.0 out of 5 stars Ordered by not received - sure looks neat though!, November 2, 2011
This review is from: Sony HVLIRH2 NightShot Infrared Light with Rotating Head (Electronics)
This is a less-than-helpful review for anyone deciding on this piece of equipment. I ordered this IR light hoping that it would help illuminate the dark recesses of the spooky haunted houses that I investigate. 2 days after ordering this light I received an email saying that it was not available and that my credit card would not be charged, but I could order it again when it was in stock. This seemed rather odd to me since it was listed as an in stock item at the time of purchase. Bottom line is that I never received it nor was I charged for it. I still think it is something I might buy though.

The features that make it attractive to me as a ghost hunter is that it provides more light than my 1 LED nightshot camera has installed. It is black so it won't reflect much light in a darkend space. And it sort of looks like the heat ray producing armature from the 1950's Sci-Fi classic "War of the Worlds."

Just this morning I received an email from Amazon stating that if I reviewed this product I would be entered into a drawing for a $1000 gift card toward a future purchase. Well, if Amazon can't keep track of botched orders, or whether or not a product was actually shipped, I might as well write the requested review in the hope I might win something I guess...

Ordered this for my paranormal investigations group as they are now extremely hard to come by. It arrived within a couple of days and I tested it immediately with a Sony DCR-TRV22 Mini DV camcorder.

The IR light makes a square pattern and the white light a circular pattern. The white light isn't real bright but I won't be using that much. The Sima white light is almost impossible for a person to look at because it is way too bright.

The controls on this light are nice and simple and having it use the camcorders battery is a real nice advantage to replacing batteries all the time. I highly recommend this light if you can still find one.

The camera had a mode for low level light but it was very jerky. This intensified the ambient light but the picture was still jerky.
