The Sony ICD-BM1 is great for the purpose it is designed for- speech! It is ok for recording live music for reference purpose, but has a limited high end (13.5khz). The instructions are available through support at the Sony website. They can be downloaded in pdf (adobe) format and the print size can be enlarged by using the zoom button on the tool bar.

The recorder is fine but for those in the higher age group the instructions for use are fair. I have no one to speak to about the confusion I'm left with!I would think a dvd or a site could be used to answer any questions or illustrate what you need format's for! I have macular degeneration and the "SMALL" printed information provided makes for additional difficulty. I'm sure if I seen a descriptive "LARGE PRINT " book with the recorder or DVD?Site inputs the rating would be better.

I bought this recorder to use at our music sessions and it's ease of use, small size, software interface, has been a real treat.
