The Sony ICD-SX46 digital voice recorder makes capturing audio simple and enjoyable. Built-in flash memory provides 128MB of storage capacity for storing large amounts of data. Great for long conferences, STLP recording mode will allow up to 11 hours 15 minutes recording time, and up to 47 hours in LP mode. STLP Recording Mode for up to 11 hours 15 minutes recording time: Offers a longer recording time while maintaining 2-channel recording.

Digital Voice Up and VOR (Voice Operated Recording) Functions increases the volume of the person speaking when recorded at a distance from the unit.
Digital Pitch Control allows recordings to be heard at slower than normal speeds without distortion to facilitate transcribing or editing, or faster than normal to move quickly to a desired portion.
Recording Monitor Function allows the user to listen to the recording level by using headphone while unit is recording.
128MB Flash Memory uses a high capacity IC chip, which may be used repeatedly for recording with distortion-free clarity.

Outstanding value with the included Dragon Naturally Speaking 8 software! Very clear playback sounds. Those who complain about its recording quality should definitely compare it with other portable voice recorders (i.e. Olympus), or they simply don't know how to properly operate this advanced product.

This is a perfect device, hard working and no complaint. Very easy to use and well made as all Sony products. Batteries life is extra long and sound playback is the best you can get. Well done once again.

Just for reference: I'm no expert and this is only my second experience with digital recorders.
I have mixed feelings about the Sony ICDSX46VTP. I've been testing it out for a couple of weeks. The folders, recording, controls and software are all very good. But, I have these issues with this unit: The reviews about it picking up your touch thru the mic are not exaggerated. I was surprised (shouldn't have been) by this major disapointment. It would probably be impossible to capture an interview with any quality while holding this unit. The display is too dark to control it very well in dim situations. If I had to do it again, I'd try a different product.
