Good purchase. Straight forward install under kitchen cabinets.
Good balance -- good example of getting what you pay for. Didn't expect it to "pump out the sound" but didn't want it to sound like cheap tin either. Most important ----- wife loves it!!!!!

I just installed the Sony ICF-CD523 and IT ROCKS. Fabulous sound, easy to operate, CD played does not skip even with volume all the way up, Bass on and with closing cabinet doors. The Sony replaced a GE75300 that SUCKED BIG TIME. Being of retirement age and hard of hearing, the Sony is AWESOME for sound quality and performance. An excelent value for the money. Now I will try and wear it out. I highly recommend this product.

The radio reception was good for about a month and then went south. No matter where I put this in my home it won't pull in the stations I want. I have two other radios that work fine, so it isn't my location. Definitely look elsewhere.

My CD523 unit mounted nicely with the help of the template. The radio reception was so-so from the very beginning. Now, some two months later, their is an annoying hiss on our favorite FM station. Other inexpensive radios in the house get good reception for this same station.
So, being technologically savvy, I checked the specs online to discover that the FM antenna is in the power cord. My electrical outlet is only about ten inches from the unit; hence, I left the power cord wrapped up and jammed it behind the unit. When I unwrapped it, the reception did improve slightly. The hiss is now subdued. So I'm going to have to live with it. The sound quality is acceptable, yet the bass tones are non-existant. The "mega-base" switch is a joke! Wish I had read these reviews in advance and never purchased this unit.

Sony was the only brand that seemed to have a quality under the counter radio, based on reviews on Amazon. I previously had a GE,which was OK, but had issues with the volume dropping randomly and the radio reception was marginal.
This Sony is great. I get stations in clearly that I don't get anywhere but but my car radio. The CD works well too, though I don't use it as often as the radio. I use mostly FM, but the AM seems to work well.

This a great under the cabinet kitchen radio/CD player. It does just what it says it will do, but there are two improvements I wish I had waited for: high definition radio and the capability to load in 2 or 3 CD's. But it is not expensive and for someone who is as addicted to Morning Edition as I am to a pot of hot tea to start the day this does the trick. This weekend while I was having a party the crowd that always hangs out in the kitchen discovered it and and tuned in the Ole Miss game. They loved it. I still wish I could load in a several CD's for music variety while I cook.

Has great reception. Works like a champ. Great sound. Volume gets nice and loud. Excellent product for the price! ;) My only complaint is that it won't pay MP3 cds that I made. Will play wma made cd's though. For the price, it's great quality though!

Easy to install. Nice sound. I got it for a good price. I am not an audiophile but to me this radio sounds great and picks up all the local stations. No complaints.
