This is my favorite Clock Radio I have ever had. It is easy to use and set up and complicated enough to shut off in the morning that I never accidentally turn it off while still asleep and wake up late.
I purchased this brand new from a local electronics store and I loved it! unfortunately, my new puppies decided to chew through the plug in cord. I repurchased a used one through here. I received it prompt and loved it. However, my original was silver and the one I received was white. Yes, with the digital upgrade one cannot receive tv. However, it does works wonder for the weather band. I live in a rural area and I depend on my IPHONE app from the NOAA to send critical weather information. If I need this is a backup. If you would like to use the cd player, I have had no problems, however, I do not use it for my principal cd player. I like to wake up to songs.. so it has it's function. I love the nap time too. If you want to lay down for either 15 minutes up to 1 1/2 hours, it gives you that option in 15 minutes intervals. Sometimes one just needs to recoup. I love the compact design and i can read it in the night opposed to my other electronics. I'm 46 and I just can no longer look across the room to read the time with small screens. It does have an adjustable 3 level nightlight which is ok with me i do need a dark room at times, so i just place a napkin over it to not allow light to come through. It is an alarm clock... not a stereo system. I do clean the cd player just as one would clean their stereo. In addition, it does have an headphone jack... one could plug in additional stereos, headphones, etc... the quality is slightly better than a regular clock... it is what it is.. a basic alarm clock that has some extras, like nap, headphone jack, cd. Oh, it is a dual alarm too! love that... easy and sleek. I like it.. was kinda sad when Sony stopped making it. Gotta keep up with the times and electronics, but one may just want a simple alarm clock too!
I needed to replace a clock/alarm/radio in my bedroom and specifically wanted one with 2 alarms and that would play CD's. This one was the only one that I found that other reviews rated as having decent sound quality (without going to significantly higher priced radios). It set up easily and does have decent sound quality. My only complaint is that that the clock is almost impossible to read. I do wear glasses but was able to read the time without putting on my glasses. The screen is a comparable size to my previous clock but the lighting is poor on the Sony. Fortunately I don't need to read the clock in the dark very often. That said, I wo9uld still purchase the radio.
First thing, it lost the network TV capability with the digital changeover and Sony could not provide an adapter...then, it is too bright for bedside. But the worst thing now, is that it has started cutting off the last tracks on the CDs...if I want to listen to end of audio book, I have to switch the CD to my PC.
