Yes, all I use it for is AM (baseball!) and it's excellent for that.

Yes! FM comes in terrific and the extendible antenna gives added clarity/reception quality...you do not need headphones/earbuds to listen to AM or FM on this radio; the sound output for both bands is very clear and signal pick-up strength great.

battery lasts Jun 16, 2014
I've had it a month and use it a lot. I changed batteries because I bought some. Not sure I even needed to. Good battery life. Uses 2 AAs, so very economical.

No, it does not. It's an AM/FM radio only. Receives only U.S. commercial broadcast signals. Believe you need a radio that has capability of receiving "shortwave" signals -- which are international.
