Phenominal - The Last Of A Dying Breed!,
By
This review is from: Sony KD-34XS955 34-Inch FD Trinitron WEGA HDTV with Integrated DTV Tuner (Electronics)
This is the first HDTV i have ever owned, and for my first HDTV i can't believe this is my very first set! I have been researching HDTV's for months and months and this t.v is what i decided on.
The picture quality is DARN stunning to look at. NO ghosting, NO burn in, and NO artifacts. At any viewing angle the picture remains intact and in perfect condition. I play my xbox360 on this baby, and it displays PERECT. That is one of the main reasons why i bought this set in the first place, just for gaming. No T.V on the face of this earth can match this SUPER FINE PITCH TUBE, even to this day! When i popped in a dvd into my progressive scan DVD player "OH MAN" the DVD's looked like they were in HIGH DEF. The sounds from the speakers are not bad at all with a built in subwoofer, so I can't really complain. The OVER THE AIR(OVA) tuner is cool, i automatically get local high def channels without a cable set top box. The DRC is cool also, turning some local channels into 480i. Their is also a cable card slot. I am very, very blessed to have gotten this t.v at ALL. Especially in June of this year 06". This T.V along with the other SUPER PICTURE TUBE models are no longer manufactured. They stopped making these t.v's in 2005. It was either this or the Samsung 32" LCD (LN-S3251D). Only GOD knows how i would have felt if i plunkered all that dough for a mediocre 32" LCD. I guess this T.V should last me untill S.E.D(Surface-conduction Electron-emitter Display) T.V's go way, way, down in price because S.E.D(Surface-conduction Electron-emitter Display) T.V's are the only tv's that can match this SUPER FINE PITCH PICTURE TUBE. I am overwhelmed by this t.v and very extremely happy that i got one. If any of you out their can find one you will never regret it!

AWESOME - SENSACIONAL,

I'm gonna write this in my native language Spanish, but I agree 100% with two past comments.
Simplemente sensacional!

After spending time trying to decide which and what kind of TV I wanted, I bought this TV on a moments notice in the store when I found out they had it in stock and what the price was. (I got it for quite a bit less than listed on Amazon or at Circuit City). So check around for the best price.
I upgraded my Time Warner DVR cable box to an HDTV DVR box so I could use component video connections and pick up HDTV (Time Warner doesnt charge extra for in in NYC). If you can upgrade to HDTV, DO IT!! HDTV broadcasts fill the entire widescreen with eye popping video. Watching TV shows and more importantly sports is an amazing eye opening experiance. I wish I would never have to watch regular broadcast TV again. Football games and Baseball playoffs on FOX HDTV are amazing. In between games I tried out the new Star Wars DVD on an older progressive scan DVD player (no 4:3). The movie looked awesome and this TV puts out amazing sound too. The bass rumbles nicely without an external subwoofer. This TV also has an amazing number of inputs so you can connect anything any way in any way. IT also has the new HDMI port, but I havent found anything else that has it yet. HDMI is nice b/c it is digital vieo and digital multi channel sound in one nice simple cable/connector. This is an awesome TV that will cause my couch to get an extremely high amount of use from everyone I know comming over to watch sporting events and DVDs. If you get this set, prepare for guests too.

Best TV I'VE EVER WATCHED. WHAT A PICTURE!!!!,
This review is from: Sony KD-34XS955 34-Inch FD Trinitron WEGA HDTV with Integrated DTV Tuner (Electronics)
Ok... First of all, Jan 2009 and I believe this TV first came out in 2004. Well, I bought this TV on craigslist since the person who was selling it was moving. They couldn't move with it so they were trying to get rid of it before their move so since this TV is 200+ lbs, they were trying to get what they can get for it. Anyhoo.. like I said, this TV is 200 lbs. I brought my buddy with me to move the sucker and we had a difficult time moving it up a 2 level story townhome however, we managed to do it w/o any nicks or scratches.
When I turned this bad boy on, I was not impressed with the HDTV picture and thought I was robbed. I thought "I brought this thing across county lines and my old sony tv looked better" and I was getting really mad. UNTIL..... I saw the error of my ways..... Since my old 32 inch CRT tv set was connected to my verizon fios HDTV box, I had the output of the STB displaying 4:3 output. I made the critical adjustment of setting the STB output display to 16:9 and then I changed the STB to an HD channel. BTW, have you ever heard of Christmas Carols signing in front of your door, or remember how satisfying a good home cooked dinner was or experience a rage of excitement? Well, that type of experience/excitement/adrenaline/happiness was kind the same experience I had when I looked at this TV on an HD channel. All I can say is... !!! (speechless) My setup: I have a TV hole above my fireplace where I can put a 34 CRT incher (widscreen) in it or a 40 inch LCD in it (it was an option I decided to have done when I built the house). Since 40 inch LCDs still cost around 500-800 bucks, I was willing to spend 100 bucks on a CRT just because I like CRTs and I didn't care how deep the tv was (except that it must be no deeper than 24") which in this case this tv is. If you have seen this type of setup, you know that the hole starts above the fireplace is probably 4 feet high from the floor. Now imagine lifting a 200 pound tv 4 feet above ground, (it requires you to at least lifting it up to your shoulders). It took 3 people to lift this sucker to the hole (safely). It will never move out of the hole again and I will sell it to the buyer of my house if/when I sell the house. The inputs are great. It has 2 sets of component inputs, and 1 hdmi input. It has 3 regular RCA inputs and has output for a computer monitor and an optical digital output for audio. It also has an analog output for audio. I dont know how many people are still buying CRTs since the new LCDs are the wave of the future but if you're looking for a GREAT deal, look for one of these sets in craigslist and buy it for at least half the cost of a brand new LCD. The picture is superb and the sound has a significant base to it and the picture quality of the HD capability of this set is better than any LCD I've looked at. |
