Exceptional Sony 36 inch Stereo Color TV,

This review is from: Sony KD36FS170 36-Inch FD Trinitron WEGA Hi-Scan Digital Television (Electronics)
Have you been shopping lately? Standard 4:3 screen aspect ratio CRT Television sets are becoming a thing of the past. One major audio/video retailer in my area no longer carries standard CRT TV sets. In other words they carry no tube TV sets, just flat screen sets. They only carry 16:9 (screen aspect ratio) LCD and Plasma sets! I find this sudden transition incredible, unbelievable and very naive. I prefer a large 4:3 CRT screen. For me they are much brighter and more vivid. The Sony KD36FS170 36" FD Trinitron WEGA Hi-Scan Digital Television is an excellent 4:3 set. It has a Digital 3-line comb filter that increases picture resolution and reduces noticeable dot-crawl, which is visible on less expensive 36-inch brands. It has Rear audio and composite video inputs as well as an S-video input for DVD, Laser Disc players and Super-VHS recorders for higher picture resolution. The picture on this TV set is excellent

Best CRT picture I've ever seen,

Pro's - Stunning picture (especially with digital media),This is the best non-HD picture I've ever seen (I find LCD TV's to have cold unreal color & contrast). This TV went for over $1200 originally, so $600 is a steal. Plus you have Sony Quality & service. I've owned a lot of TV's & Sony lasts the longest. Picture is very adjustable, many settings. Cons - over 200 pounds, very heavy & bulky, took 2 STRONG men to move it. (quality picture tubes & transformers are heavy!) costs $200 to ship, small cramped remote, always hitting the wrong key. Sound is good nothing special. At first I was going to rate at 4 stars but the picture is so good (thats why you buy a TV) I had to give it 5. Picture tubes are disapearing, This is one of the best & last.

Didn't want to cough up twice the price for pasma or LCD and really didn't have the 700$ difference for HD.Have no regrets about getting the KD-36FS170.Fits the bill perfectly!DVD,Digital Cable and even greater with the Dish this is last of the CRT's.Sitting away 12 feet the picture quality is short of stunning.Sound is OK,and you will never move this baby by yourself.

Great TV,

TV is working great, Picture quality is excellent. Only problem we had was the supplier charged for expedited shipping, and the unit was delivered in 10 days. Yes the tv weights 200lbs, but the supplier knows this and if they are unable to deliver expedited, that shouldn't be an option and the customer should never be charged.

With 1080p LCDs and plasmas already available on the market right now, WHY would you still wanna buy this contraption?
It's like 2 feet thick and weighs 250 pounds... Ouch! Just imagine having to haul this massive thing up and down the stairs in a few years from now! With the packaging materials included, this thing is gonna weigh more than 250 pounds. Consider renting a FORKLIFT if you must buy this TV! |
