The Sony KP-61S70 61-inch projection television incorporates a patented MICROFOCUS CRT lens system, which generates a brighter, sharper image, and improved corner focusing accuracy. Its 3-line digital comb filter greatly reduces dot crawl and unwanted video noise. The dual-component design of its 61- inch screen integrates lenticular and fresnel filters, which increase the horizontal viewing angle and enhance contrast and brightness, respectively. Color temperature is controlled by a picture stabilizer, which also helps eliminate picture distortion when the screen rapidly alternates between light and dark scenes. The 181-channel tuner features picture-in-picture capabilities.

Audio capabilities include an MTS decoder with dbx noise reduction, which enables the set to perform in stereo sound and filters out unwanted noises. Matrix Surround sound circuitry adds extra sound presence from two built-in 15-watt speakers. The Sony KP-61S70 has front and rear S-Video inputs, two RF inputs, and one front composite audio-video input, as well as outputs for a monitor system and fixed or variable audio. Advanced convenience features include palette presets, an onscreen menu, Sony's Express Tuning system, a sleep timer, on-off timer, and closed caption decoder. The built-in V- chip gives parents the ability to lock out channels they deem inappropriate.

The Sony KP-61S70 is only 26 inches deep, one of the slimmest profiles of projection TVs on the market--even slimmer than most 36-inch direct- view sets. It measures 54 by 61.75 by 26 inches and sports a dark gray cabinet. Sony covers the picture tube for two years, and offers a one-year parts and labor warranty.

As my wife calls it 'THE BIG EYE', the Sony 61" TV is GREAT! The picture quality is very bright (or any way you wish to adjust it) in any light condition. There are 3 pre-set picture types and 2 others that you can adjust yourself. The audio section can fill our large family room with 'full sound' at any listening level. All hook-ups on the rear panel support any additional equipment that you might need to hook-up, including 's' video inputs. I have a DVD player, Direct TV, and VHS Recorder all going into this. The remote may control all of your other components. The TV weighs about 180lbs., but it is on wheels, so it may be rolled quite easy. We did purchase the optional screen protector for it, but it had too much glare, so we returned it.
