Great value, picture.,

This review is from: Sony KV-32FS120 32-Inch FD Trinitron WEGA Flat-Screen CRT TV (Electronics)
I have a Sony 51 inch high-definition tv also, but a couple of years ago I saw this tv at a friends house, hooked up to cable. The picture was amazing. Yesterday we bought one for our den and hooked up to DISH network (satelite) the picture is also the best I've ever seen for a tube tv. Plus it's easy to use and set up and has a feature called CLEAR EDGE that makes the picture even sharper. The only knock is the weight, about 180 pounds. You need two people to move this tv, it is heavy. But heavy usually means quality and this tv is the best on the market in this price range.

EXCELLENT PICTURE WHEN ADJUSTED CORRECTLY,

This review is from: Sony KV-32FS120 32-Inch FD Trinitron WEGA Flat-Screen CRT TV (Electronics)
Just bought this set and have to say it's excellent quality- when set up correctly. Have your color temperature on Warm, have the Clear Edge mode on High, and have Simulated and Steady Sound ON. Also, I found the colors to come out best when the picture mode is on Vivid, and not Movie. Movie mode is too dark and although it has a smooth feel to it, the colors don't jump out at you as well as Vivid does. Just pop in the DVD for "The Lion King" to see what I'm talking about. My only complaint would be on all four sides there is about a half an inch of dark tube and it makes it look like you're missing some of your picture. But I have been informed that's how Sony made it. Other then that, hook your DVD player and TV with component cables, add a Home Theater System (Preferabley Sony as well) and you're ready to go. For a 32" this seems like owning a 40". Trust me. The look of it too, is stylish to a tee.

Simply a great TV,

I needed a new TV to replace my old Philips 25PS40 which I bought in 2001. At first I bought the 27" Samsung TXR2735, but then returned it due to a very bad picture quality, even after trying to adjust the contrast/brightness for a week. The Sony KV-32FS120 is simply a great TV: great sound, astounding picture quality (very life-like and vivid). I couldn't be happier. Unlike J. Travis, I like to keep the picture mode on Pro, increasing the brightness slightly. R. Pandolfo is also correct in saying that you need a friend to help you lift this TV out of the box and onto your stand. It is very heavy.

Do Not Buy This TV-Abandon Sony,
By Jane Smith (Massachusetts) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sony KV-32FS120 32-Inch FD Trinitron WEGA Flat-Screen CRT TV (Electronics)
The end of the Sony brand is nigh. Owned this TV for a little over a year. It's ridiculously heavy but, more importantly, the set died after a short time of use. I have experienced the same issues many have here and elsewhere (9 blinks, Zero Crossing Detector 255 -- basically, TV will not turn on). It's my understanding that Sony knows about this defect but will not issue a recall and will not help you. Calling in a tech is just throwing good $$$ after bad (the problem may return even after replacing the A/C boards).
My advice: try a new brand and do let Sony know that paying $600 for a set that only lasts a year (or less) will not endear customers to their merchandise. Even though this model is no longer available via Amazon, BestBuy and Circuit City are still selling this creampuff. Also, Sony's LCD-HD models are crazy expensive. It's all gone to their heads. No more Sony-anything for me.

A CRISP CLEAR PICTURE WITH A GOOD SOUND!,

This review is from: Sony KV-32FS120 32-Inch FD Trinitron WEGA Flat-Screen CRT TV (Electronics)
Sony's 32 Flat TV is a real addition to any size room. Picture and Sound are excellent! Remote works well with add on components such as: VCR, Sat. TV Receivers. The only draw back The TV is very heavy and difficult to handle (need 2 strong people and stand). Price is good for the size. The TV cabinet and screen are very appealing to the eye. The TV comes with 4 picture mode settings that with a simple press on the remote you may set up the TV to watch enhenced VIVID / Movies to PRO Standard that offers a Beautiful Picture. TV System menu easily prompts you through all settings:Video/Sound/Passwords/Time etc. I also own a 52" projection RCA TV since 1994 which still provides a beautiful screen image, but this new Sony 32" Flat TV looks to be another good investment.

Great, if you don't end up with blinking lights,

I bought this TV in 2005 or 2006 after our 11 yr old hand-me-down ProScan stopped working one day. This TV had pretty good picture, decent sound, it's frikken huge but it's a 32" CRT so what do you expect. Ever since the first day we brought it home, it would make the loudest **bzzzoowwwn** sound when you turned it on and make all of the lights in the house dim for a sec. Other than that, it was perfect. Until... It started having the 9 blink problem within the past week or so. Periodically, it will just not turn on and the standby light blinks 9 times... and bummer for you, no TV. Now I learn via online searches that I have to replace the G Board for $60 to $100 (and that's if I do it myself) if I want my tv to work again.
For the price I paid for this behemoth that many years ago, I can buy a pretty nice flat screen LCD tv, and hopefully I will not incur the wrath of the blinking lights again.

Poor Quality, Poor Customer Service,
By
This review is from: Sony KV-32FS120 32-Inch FD Trinitron WEGA Flat-Screen CRT TV (Electronics)
I will never buy Sony products again, everything I buy that is Panasonic works very well and is well made and they have great customer service. Purchased 2 KV32FS120 in 2005, last week (2008) one set would not turn on. It's the dreaded 9 blinking lights, the diagnostic screen said it was an error in the ZCD 255, thats the Zero Crossing Detector and 255 is the number of times I pressed the power button and it failed. After researching the problem I found that thousands of people are having the same problem with many Sony models and Sony is not doing anything about it. Called Sony and they said they will not do anything for me, I asked to speak to a supervisor and she refused to transfer me. I got very upset with her that she would not transfer me to a supervisor and that a set would fail this soon and that Sony is doing nothing about it, knowing it is a defect. I told her I was never going to buy another Sony product ever again and she acted like she could care less she said: I had to do what ever I had to do, a very poor attitude! From what I have also learned is that it is not worth fixing.

Sony, the Quality is Gone,

TV worked great for three years. Now it is dead with blinking red led light. TV repairmen picked it up, all 180 pounds. I will probably give them the set.

Sony is terrible!,
By
This review is from: Sony KV-32FS120 32-Inch FD Trinitron WEGA Flat-Screen CRT TV (Electronics)
I had this TV for only a month and a few days when the picture tube died. Sony's warranty covered the $12 tube, but not the $292 labor costs. Also, it took me 12 calls to customer service (some of these calls were return calls after being hung-up on) to get any answers at all. I was bounced around through several departments and even given incorrect information as to who to speak with to help me fix my TV. The products may be fine (this one isn't), but the customer service is horrible.

The picture is crisp, the controls are easy to use, and there is every type of connection you could want in the back. All around great TV.
