Great while it worked,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sony KV 36HS510 - 36" WEGA CRT TV - 1080i (Electronics)
The Sony was great while it worked, but as the set stopped as soon as the warranty ran out. Sony used to make great, long-lasting products, but it seems like they've lost it lately. The set itself is very heavy, and so if it does stop working you've got a huge problem in getting it repaired.

3 Years Later,
This review is from: Sony KV 36HS510 - 36" WEGA CRT TV - 1080i (Electronics)
I bought this set 3 years ago, and have had absolutely NO problems with it at all. The picture is as great now as it was when brand new, all the functions & ports work perfectly, and HD content looks great.

I bought this set for it's HD capabilities. I was pleasantly surprised with how well it processes and displays regular TV output.

Good picture, but not a reliable set,
This review is from: Sony KV 36HS510 - 36" WEGA CRT TV - 1080i (Electronics)
I purchased this set, brand new, on Sept 2003.On Aug 2004, and now on Dec 2005 both the picture and the audio failed. Thank goodness I have extended warranty. I have been a Sony fan for years and I am very disspointed with this particular set. So much for the money !! Maybe Sony is not what it used to be.

5 years later and still working GREAT!,
This review is from: Sony KV 36HS510 - 36" WEGA CRT TV - 1080i (Electronics)
I bought this television well over 5 years ago and it still works GREAT! It was the best thing you could buy for under $2,000 at the time and we have not had a single problem with it, even the remote still works like new. I bought it at BB in 2003 for about $1500 with a couple of extras throw-in and they delivered and set it up for free. It is a bit heavy at a little over 200lbs, so moving it is difficult, but we have only had to move it a couple of times. I have a HD-DVD player hooked up to it now and the picture is great(yeah, I know Sony won this time, but I also bought a Sony BetaMax back in the day, go figure). I also now have a Onkyo SR605 hooked up that upconverts signals from other sources and they look great as well. I have had DirectTV sattelite since I bought the KV-36HS510 and get all the HD channels just fine and the picture is even better than when it was new, probably due to upgraded receiver and dish from directtv and/or my imagination, but either way I am very happy with my SONY purchase and will buy SONY when I get my Blu-Ray and new LCD flat screen XBR. I might even buy a Playstation 3 since the Blu-Ray player is built-in!

We got this tv 2 years ago and, yes, it was great. But it has stopped working recently and the estimate to fix is $600 - not great. We have called Sony to try to negociate a deal (getting the part for free and paying for the labor only) but they offered no alternatives. We loved the tv, but I agree with the other reviews - 2 to 3 years of lifespan is not acceptable. We are getting a new tv and it will not be a Sony...

Loved it While it Worked,
This review is from: Sony KV 36HS510 - 36" WEGA CRT TV - 1080i (Electronics)
We bought our Sony KV-36-HS510 Back in Jan of 2004 and last month (march 2007) it started not wanting to turn on. I would use the remote to turn it on and woul hear it click on then instantly click off. I have had an in home repairman out here 3 times and each part he brings out won't fix the voltage problem. Seems there is a low voltage getting to the power switch. I just got a call from the repairman telling me we are out of luck..the part he want to try and repace is not being made any longer and he can' not find one for us. This is alot of money to spend for 3 yrs of use.

Good Picture, Used to be good Audio,

My tv has recently developed a severe audio popping sound that comes and goes. Its a loud instant pop through the speakers, that will jolt you, no matter what the volume level is at. Usually , I would never down a Sony , but Im afraid my search for what I thought would be the best in tv's, is coming up short.Besides that, the picture is excellent and when you forget about the 'pop' the sound is good too.
